His hand fell lazily over the curve of her hip, a familiar resting spot when they were in bed. He moved closer to his wife who slept soundly next to him and then he felt his own throbbing head. He suddenly recalled the events of the night before and he rolled to his back. He was aware he was still fully clothed and the smell of alcohol reeked through his pores. He could barely stand to smell himself much less stand upright. He quietly slipped out of the bed and straight into the shower trying to wash the previous night's mistakes away. The warmth of the water against his neck and back slowly released the tension he felt, washing away the ugliness of his accusations, and lessened the throbbing sensation ringing in his head. The shower quickly filled with steam and not just from the water as she slipped in behind him. Her arms wrapped around his waist and she rested her head against his sleek back. He heard her whisper through the falling water, "I didn't get my dance last night with you."

His head hung low as he let the water run through his thick tangle of curls. "About that..." he replied somehow humiliated by his own deeds, "I'm really sorry about everything last night." He flipped his hair back, turning to face her. He ran his hands through her hair helping to soak it thoroughly and gently washed the mascara from her eyes that continued to look at him so intently. It was hard for him to admit he was wrong. She knew it was his incessant worry about danger and the lack of respect for it that prompted his insecurities. Instead of chiding him, she let him apologize uninterrupted and in usual fashion, she accepted the apology with the grace she was known for.

"Joshua, there will never be anyone that will replace you in my heart or in my bed. It has always been only you and I don't know how to convince your otherwise." Her hand grazed over his rippled chest resting on his heart. She patted the space with her hand. "We share one heart. One life."

He bent his head towards her, seeking out her mouth and he kissed her softly as the water ran over both their bodies. His hands moved up and down her waist as if they were starved for the feel of her. The kiss they shared turned deeper and longer and before either of them realized it, he had her pinned against the slick cool tile of the shower wall. She quickly wrapped her legs around him holding him tightly around his neck. The shower had suddenly become extra hot as his body melded against hers. His rough edges were a perfect fit to her curves.  She felt his manliness throb against her. Lila didn't protest when he entered her. It was one long pleasurable ride for the both of them, followed by the soft moans of familiar satisfaction.

They may have not had their traditional dance the night before but the one performed in the shower by the both of them may have been their best dance yet.
