Lila asked if Sam could be brought to Jill and Matt's room and stay with them until Gabe and Lucy arrived. Claire agreed ever hopeful Sam would find the family he desperately needed. They placed him next to Madeline who appeared to be agreeable to his presence. Both babies soon fell fast asleep nestled in their blue and pink swaddled blankets.

"Do you think we're doing the right thing?" Jill didn't want Gabe and Lucy to think Sam was a substitution but knowing how much Gabe wanted kids and Lucy was still sullen about the loss, she couldn't help but feel a sense of dread and excitement all at once.

Matt stood over the bassinet watching both babies sleep. He was thankful for Madeline and yet felt deep sorrow that someone could walk away from the beautiful boy baby that kept his baby girl company. It was callous and wrong.

"If Gabe and Lucy don't take him, I think we should give him a home."

"Really Matthew?" Jill knew Matt had a soft spot for kids. She had seen it with her stepson. Matt had welcomed him into their life regardless of not being involved in his early years. It wouldn't be a stretch to have another boy in the house. Jill had become an expert at wrangling all of boys including her husband.

A few hours had passed before Bear, Red, Gabe and Lucy arrived. The hospital room had suddenly become much smaller. "So where is she?" Gabe looked around the room. Bam and Lila stepped to either side of the bassinet revealing Maddie and her companion.

"Wait? You had two babies?" Gabe and Lucy bent over cooing at the pair. "I thought you just had a girl."

Matt answered Gabe's confusion.  "Gabey, we only had one baby. Madeline."

Lucy turned to her family. "Well who does the baby boy belong to?" She appeared just as confused as Gabe.

"His name is Sam." Both Gabe and Lucy exchanged looks with Bam. "And he doesn't have a family." Bam lifted Sam from the bassinet as he still slept. "He could be yours."

"Whhhhaaatttt?" Gabey asked with a look of astonishment on his face. Bam walked Sam gently to where Lucy stood.

"Would you like to hold him?" Lucy was at a loss for words as Bam slipped baby Sam into her arms. She looked at Bam as he coaxed her. "It will be alright. He's needs someone to love him. He is alone in this world."

Lucy smelled the fresh scent of a baby, like someone had sprinkled him with a goodness that only babies have. "Gabey?"

Lucy faced her husband with a questioning stare. So many thoughts raced through her mind. Could they love someone that they didn't conceive? Was this providence that this tiny little baby be there when Jill gave birth? Did her family consider her broken?

"He needs a home. Both of you are ready to be parents and yes, all of us discussed it before calling you." Lila spoke softly as she knew this would be a life altering decision.

"And if you don't want him, me and Jill are taking him home. Either way, he will be a Brown." Matt smiled down at Sam. "Look at that face guys. Could he be any cuter?"

Claire stuck her head in the room to check on the progress of the meeting. Lila signaled her in and introduced her to both Lucy and Gabe.

"I see you've met our little angel Sam." Claire's words resonated with Lucy. Our little angel. It was almost an epiphany for her as if their own baby girl had sent Sam to them. With no hesitation in her voice, she looked at Gabe and announced, "He will have a home with us."

Gabe exploded with joy as he repeated over and over to his brothers. "I'm a dad! I am going to be a dad."

Claire tried to contain Gabe's excitement. "There will be a few home checks and of course, lots of paperwork, but if you like, you can take him home tonight."

And for at least this day, the stars had aligned and brought fortune where despair once thrived. Two had become three and the house of Gabe and Lucy Brown had officially become a home.
