~~~~~~~~~
My experience:
-> I've been reviewing books since young at Japanese library sessions
-> I've done several book reviews for novels in different languages such as Japanese, Chinese, English, Spanish, Korean, and Hindi. Though Japanese and English are languages I frequent more.
-> I've judged several unofficial Wattpad awards for all the different genres in my old accounts.
Genres I review: I enjoy all genres so I'm open to reviewing any genre. Including poetry, short stories, fan fiction, one-shots, etc. I'm perfectly okay with mature content like gore, violence, sensual content, etc. I prefer to not read it, but I'm okay with reading it.
Review criteria:
Hook
Does your book cover catch my attention (more looking into font sizes, etc)? Does your title allow me to imagine what's going to happen? Does your blurb tell what is necessary and excite me to reading the book?
Title: (5 marks)
Cover: (5 marks)
Blurb: (5 marks)
-----
Development
First Act will be about the character settings, story settings, etc that must be present in the first few chapters of the book. Character development includes how your character grows and progresses as the story goes on. The plot involves how smooth your story flows, whether it makes sense, whether I'm interested to continue reading or would like to put the book aside, etc.
First Act: (30 marks)
Character Development: (15 marks)
Plot: (20 marks)
Language
Will be looking out for the grammar, uses of punctuations and vocabulary. Do you "show" not "tell"? Does your book give me a vivid description of the scene?
Grammar, Punctuation, Vocabulary: (10 marks)
Descriptive Writing: (10 marks)
~~~~~~

Criteria for Poetry

Hook: (15 marks)
Language: (20 marks)
Flow: (25 marks)
Base: (25 marks)
Originality/Creativity: (15 marks)

The base refers to how your poem is written. Does it tell me a story? What message is the poem trying to convey? Is the theme clear?

Criteria for short stories/one-shots

Hook: (15 marks)
Development: (55 marks)
Language: (30 marks)

Similar to the criteria for novels but a shortened version which focuses more on language skills.

~~~~~~
I generally focus more on the First Act of a novel, whether it is well set or blurred. Personally believe that it is important to set your foundation properly before building up.
