"Don't be harsh with Chhoti Maa, Shivaay." Omkara tried to calm down Shivaay.

The two brothers were in Omkara's room, where Omkara was packing his things since last night. Rudra spent most of the night alternately crying and pleading with Om to not go. Finally, Shivaay and Omkara somehow put him to sleep in his room. Soumya was suspiciously missing since yesterday night, but there was no time to ponder on that currently.

"Why shouldn't I be harsh on her? Ever since she found out about Tia's pregnancy she's become so aggressive. Forcing Tia on me, and actually choosing to believe her over me, her own son, being rude and insulting towards Annika, trying to throw Annika out of the mansion when I was in the hospital, blaming Annika for whatever goes wrong in the house, and now forcing you to leave the mansion using emotional blackmail; tell me brother why should I not be angry with her?" Shivaay almost shouted in rage.

"Did you notice how many times you mentioned Annika just now?" said Omkara quietly, trying to deflect the issue at hand.

"Nice try." said Shivaay, since he knew his brother well. "You are not going to change the topic by diverging onto Annika now."

"I'm not diverging. Anyways, one can't force others to accept their feelings. But one should not delay it so much, that its too late to confess." said Omkara with a sad smile.

Shivaay kept quiet at this. His feelings for Annika were so confusing right now. Even before that wedding, he had unresolved emotions towards her. But now there was guilt, confidence, pride, and a sense of belonging mixed with it. But he didn't want to confront his feelings for her right now. Right now the issue at hand, was Omkara leaving.

"Om, I don't even understand Maa's logic behind this. How could you be a threat to me if you stay in the same mansion? Bade Papa and I also stay in the same mansion, but are we a threat to each other's success?" Shivaay tried to make rational arguments.

"Shivaay, mothers are not rational when they are thinking of their son's interests. Anyways, Shivaay value your mother, because life is so unpredictable." Omkara said sadly, thinking of his mother, still unconscious in her room.

"Anyways, its not like I'm going on Vanvaas." Omkara said lightly. "I'm going to be in the same city, at nana's place (maternal grandfather). We can talk everyday, even meet frequently. Honestly, I dunno what you and Rudy are agonizing about. Anyways, you didn't expect me to stay here and see Mr. Oberoi's face every morning when I got up, after what he did. I'm glad the first business deal I have to crack is in Bareilly, far away from Mr. Oberoi; I need a break from him." Omkara said casually, trying to make light of the situation.

Before Shivaay could interrupt him, Omkara said, "Just promise me Shivaay, that you will take of Mom, in my absence. I'm doing all this for her, even staying away from the mansion, just....just take care of her, Shivaay."

"Do you even have to ask?" assured Om.

Omkara was reassured. He knew that as long as Shivaay was there, everything will be under control.

"Aren't you going to visit Badi Maa before leaving?" Shivaay asked.

"Of course, I'll just pack a few more things and come." said Omkara.

"Okay, I'll see you off before you leave." said Shivaay. There was something more he wanted to say to his brother, but knowing the sensitivity of the situation, he just left the room with a sad shrug of his shoulders.

Omkara gazed around his room, his refuge since so many years. He touched his paintings and sculptures like a lover caressed his beloved for the last time. His canvas, which gave him peace and hope, would no longer be there to support him. It was like losing a childhood friend, a confidante. But what had to be done, had to be done. For his mother, anything.
