"How are you, Mamaji? How was Delhi?" asked Annika.

Annika and Gauri were sitting in the drawing room of their Uncle's guest house in Mumbai.

"Call me Mamu, like you used to Annika beta, you too, Chutki" said their Uncle, as he brought them tea and snacks to eat.

"Mirchi ke pakode!" (chilli pakodas, a savory snack) said Gauri excitedly.

"You are just like Annika. When she was staying at my home, so many years ago, she used to demand pakodas every day but her stomach couldn't take it. We had to really placate her by buying her chocolates, not that it was any better" reminisced their uncle.

Annika didn't remember much of this, because she had suppressed most of her memories, before the time she and Gauri ended up in the orphanage.

"Mamu, you cannot imagine how unearthly is it listening to memories from my childhood. I have forgotten so much, because it was hurtful to think of past. But ever since I found Chutki again, I have been trying to remember my old life again" said Annika.

"So, what are we not talking about here? Because I can sense that you both want to talk about something but you are worried about my reaction" said their uncle, sitting down with them to drink tea.

"How did you know Mamu?" asked Gauri, a little surprised.

"You are my Durga's daughters, you think I won't know. I feel guilty for not trying harder to find you, maybe if I had tried...." lamented their uncle.

"Let these things remain in past, Mamu. We can't go back in time and change anything, so why burden our hearts thinking about it. What matters is that we are together now, you, Annika Jiji, and me" said Gauri, trying to console their Mamu.

"Why do I suspect there is something more that you are not telling me?" said their uncle, shrewdly.

Annika couldn't keep it in any longer, "Mamu, Shivaay helped me adopt Saahil, something I've wanted for years."

"And?" said their Uncle.

Annika couldn't say anymore.

"And you are worried that you might find out something that will have a bearing on your relationship with Shivaay. You love him" it was not a question, their uncle was simply stating the facts.

"Let me at least hear the worst of it" sighed their uncle.

Between the both of them, Annika and Gauri relayed all they found out about the Kalyani Mills disaster, with Soumya's help, about the possible involvement of the Oberois in the disaster to save themselves from bankruptcy.

"Hmm, I agree with Gauri. Who is this third person, who sent the photographs to the insurance company? I don't think its your father. I know your father, I had my issues with him, but if he had proof of the Oberoi's hand in disaster, he would have gone to the insurance company in person, to hand in the proofs. In fact, he might have gone to the press, if I know him well. He was a honest man, and could not have borne the guilt of keeping silent about a crime that took the lives of many. Most probably, your father had no solid proofs of whatever he witnessed. Thats why he had to go into hiding, because he witnessed it in person, and his life as well as that of his family, was in peril. Don't you see, Annika beta? We have to find out that truth, if not for anything else, than for your father" said their uncle.

Gauri looked at her Jiji. "

But Mamaji, Jiji is married to Bade bhaiyaa, she loves him" she was pleading for her sister.
