Omkara could see that Gauri hadn't contemplated moving in with him.

"What did you think? We could sign the contract and Svetlana will plaster her wall with it? She's not a fool, she'll see through this act to delay her, and try her best to prove this marriage a lie, a plan to derail her. She will find some other recourse to get to my family, through me, or through my brother." said Omkara, clutching his head feeling the onset of another headache.

"Its okay...." said Gauri, after a pause.

"Can I ask you something?" said Omkara, his head still in his hands. Gauri nodded.

"You are not worried? You signed the papers without asking about the video. What if what's there in the video is true? What if Svetlana is right, and I did molest her? Would you still support me, my mother, without knowing? And how do you know I won't do the same to you? Aren't your scared to stay in the same house as me?" asked Omkara, his voice giving nothing away.

Gauri contemplated his words. The second part of the question was easy. She knew Omkara would do her no physical harm, in any way. He had plenty of opportunity to do so in past, he could have allowed others to do it and watched, but he did neither. The other question was heavy. Honestly, Gauri trusted him as one of those men who would never harm a woman, assault her. But that was only based on what she had observed of him in Bareilly.

Just because he was behaved decently with her, did not mean that he would not assault another woman. She thought about this Sultlana. What kind of woman was she? Gauri wanted to believe she was exactly as Jahnvi auntyji and Omkaraji painted her, but who knew? She personally didn't know Sultana at all. Gauri had, however, met Tej, Jahnvi auntyji's husband, and she didn't like him. What if he had made false promises to that Sultana? Promised to marry her, and then backed off? Maybe Sultana was a woman scorned, who wanted to take revenge. Maybe Omkaraji had actually assaulted her.

No. If Sultana had actually been assaulted she would have either exposed Omkaraji to the press or hidden that fact. But instead she chose it to marry the one man who supposedly assaulted her. Why would a woman willingly marry her assaulter, when she had evidence against him, which she could use as leverage to destroy him. Gauri imagined having evidence to show Kali Thakur's real face to the world. She would use that evidence to expose him, or if she was too scared of humiliation, she would use it as security to keep herself and her mother safe. She would not use that evidence to get married to him, to put herself in danger of sexual harassment again.

Gauri came to the conclusion that Sultana had not been assaulted by Omkaraji. But she was most probably taking revenge from Tej for betraying her after promising to marry her for all these years. As for Omkaraji, Gauri knew this much about him, that he had a terrible temper, he could probably strangle Sultana in anger, kill her even, but not assault her. That did not go with his psyche.

Omkara was growing uneasy with her pause. She didn't trust him, which he supposed was fair, because he didn't trust her either, not after all that had happened in Bareilly. But unlike her, he had never lied about anything, never betrayed anyone. So, did she have the right to judge the veracity of the accusations against him?

"I think you can't do it. Force yourself on Sultana." said Gauri. "As for myself, I trust you." she said simply.

"And why do you think I can't assault Svetlana? Why do you trust me?" asked Omkara. He knew he was pushing it, he should be satisfied, at least she trusted him. But no, he was foolishly probing her for answers.

Gauri didn't know whether she should divulge her thought process. "I....I don't think you are that...that sort of person. In any case, I have signed the papers, so all this discussion is redundant." said Gauri, evasively.
