" I would rather die a meaningful death than to live a meaningless life."
- Corazon Aquino

Third person POV

Levin didn't know how to think, he couldn't process what was happening, all he knew was that the man in front of him, was probably the most dangerous man he's ever seen.

Arima activated his case, the sword that practically leaked an aura of death, made even his other comrades shake it fear.

"Arima?" Levin titled his head, a confused look on his covered face.

Arima didn't say anything as he swiftly moved across the room in a blink of an eye, and slashed Levin across the chest, making he gag a scream of pain, but was stopped when he quickly received another blow, to the legs.

Levin fell to his knees, screaming and groaning in pain. He twitched his head to Arima in anger. "Eat eat eat eat... Eat? What's eat?" He said before standing up, ignoring his injured legs, and running at Arima.

With both wings and claws, he did a giant clapping motion with Arima in the middle of it, but he jumped upwards, landing behind him and stabbing Levin's left hip.

"Aaaaaah!" He screamed, clutching the sword, trying to pull it out. Suddenly, the quinque started to separate on four parts, electricity coming out and shocking Levin's insides to a crisp.

Levin stared into the air, on his knees, as his Kakuja started to disappear. His mask also deteriorated, leaving his face exposed. Blood covered half of his face, and his eyes glowed a psychotic red.

"Bad... end.... Hamlet.... don't like.... Hamlet... ending..." He mumbled, blood coughing up between words. Arima walked up to his, and aimed his sword for his neck.

"You have exceptional healing ability." He said, before stabbing his Levin's throat, making him stop breathing. They stayed there, frozen in time, then once he pulled his sword out, Levin fell on his back, staring at the ceiling.

"Where am I?" He asked himself in his head.

Arima stood above him, looking down at him with a blank look. The undefeated dove... special class... why didn't I run? Why did I not win? He asked himself.

"Because your weak... you'll always be weak." Said Ghoul, crouching inside the white room, glancing over at him with a smirk.

"Because of you, we're gonna die..." He said, standing up, walking towards Levin, who was on his back in his dream too.

"Who am I?" Levin asked his ghoul, but reality came back, and instead of ghoul standing there, Arima stood, his blank expression still there.

He squinted at Levin. "I don't know who you are... but you chose the wrong future." He said.

"Wrong... future?" Levin said, his face becoming horrified. Why hadn't he seen it before? He let his monster in, therefore he though he was devouring to get stronger... but the truth was...

That I was being devoured...

As Levin lay there... realizing the true stare of this world and himself, he learned the same lesson Kaneki learned... that no matter what path you take...

It'll end in tragedy.

Vincent POV

I slammed my hand on the desk, making everyone in the room jump from surprise, except Rize, who was still smiling.

"I don't see why your so frustrated." She asked, leaning on her hand and elbow, looking quite relaxed.

I glare at her. "Why do you think? That plan went wrong, even if we did get Sasaki's attention!" I yelled at her.

Kurona came back to the Nest looking almost lifeless. She had hollow eyes, and didn't speak to anyone, except for telling me that Levin stayed behind so that she wouldn't be hurt.

She blamed herself.

We don't know what happened to Levin, but the CCG has this win. They caught a lot of ghouls and killed lots too, but Aogiri escaped. Levin's plan failed... now all we can do is save Touka, and live out our lives...

I didn't believe we could take Aogiri, not even a little. But...

Levin believed we could... and that was enough for me. That stupid grinning face of his... reminds me of...

I shake my head and sigh, cooling myself down and closing my eyes. Rize's smile disappeared, and looked at the floor. "Why is it every time I take interest in a boy, they end up dying?.. or worse?" She said that last part while looking at the door, which had opened to a man standing there, glaring at Rize.

"Rize Kamashiro." Sasaki said, his cold gaze cut through all of us, the rain outside soaked him, leaving him dripping. His white shirt was see through, making Rize grin.

"Hello, Kaneki-kun~" she said with a cutesy voice.

He flinched and rubbed his head as if in pain, then shook his head as if to snap back into reality. "I heard that you people know how to get Touka back." He said with determination.

I squint at him. "Yeah... but our ace with the plan in his mind is gone thanks to your buddies in the CCG... probably even dead." I mumbled the last part, making Kurona look even more down.

Sasaki sighed. "Fine... then we'll make a plan ourselves... first off..." He held out his hand to me, making me flinch.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Sasaki." He said with a small smile. For once, I didn't sense any hostility, just a guy wanting to shake.

"Vincent..." I shake his hand and point at Kurona, Rize, and Tsukiyama. "But you already know them, right?" He asked.

Sasaki slowly nodded, shifting his gaze from each of them. Tsukiyama looked pretty Damn pleased with himself, smiling like a crazy perv. Kurona didn't pay much attention, staring into space. Rize just sat there, that smirk of hers making you wonder whether she's sizing you up for a date or for dinner.

"This is going to be difficult." Sasaki said, looking at the people he's working with.

I sigh. "You can say that again."

Levin POV

I woke on the cold marble floor, my body aching badly. The whole room smelled of blood. The copper tint tickled my nose, making me shake awake. It felt as if my joints suddenly rusted.

I slowly sat up, my hoodie and pants ripped up. My hair dropped into my eyes, messed up. I stood slowly, and had trouble standing, tripping over nothing and falling on my face.

"Where...?" He asked myself, trying to remember.

I didn't try to stand again, but soon, I heard footsteps echo off the walls and a man stood next to me, looking down at me.

He had black hair, and a close around him. His eye brows looked a bit arched, and was a broad man. He had a blank face on, then leaned down, grabbing my by the shoulder and putting me on his back.

"Who..?" I asked, my voice wavering. My sight started to blur. It was like my entire sight was put into a blender.

"You'd be the best investigator, you know that?" He said, his deep voice echoing through his back onto my chest.

"Huh?"

"You followed one of my old mentors rules... keep fighting, even if your limbs are torn off." He said, a small smile lifting on his face. I stared into his dark eyes as he glanced back at me.

In those eyes... I saw nothing but a tattered past, and someone I shouldn't mess with...

I slowly closed my eyes, not caring where this stranger took me...

Either way... I thought.

My path will always end in tragedy.
