" Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest."

Mutsuki POV

The funeral didn't have much people at it, sadly. Some high investigators, and family friends. Of course her parents came, but they were so full of sadness all they could do was say thanks for coming and sob during the whole thing.

Saiko was gone.

It still stung when I thought of it. The most happy and outgoing among us was tooken so easily, and so quickly.

Shirazu, Urie, and me stood through the whole thing in silence. Sasaki though, I don't know what he was thinking. Through the whole time, he had a straight face on.

His eyes seemed hollow, and whenever he talked to someone, his tone was blank, no emotion emanated off of him. It was like talking to a black hole.

And the worst part was during the funeral, Saiko's parents confronted Sasaki.

"So... your her superior, that was with her in her last moments?" The father asked, his expression looked grim.

Sasaki did nothing but nod, and sip his wine.

The mother coughed to clear her throat. "Y'know... She often sent letters about her time with you all. She said she saw you as some sort of roll model, or a big brother figure... She always wanted a brother..." She trailed off.

Sasaki did nothing but nod once again, I couldn't see his eyes because of them being covered by his hair, but I could tell, that he still showed no emotion.

"Do you think... She still had regrets?" The father asked, looking at Sasaki in the eyes.

There was a huge silence, as Sasaki heaved out a sigh, looking down at his wine and stirring it with his hand a bit before swinging the rest of it down.

He nodded, not saying anything.

Suddenly, the fathers face turned sour and he pushed Sasaki back into a table. Sasaki didn't have any reaction to this, his expression didn't change.

"Why won't you say anything?!? Talk, you coward!" He said, tears in his eyes as others tried to pull him back from hitting Sasaki again, not that it would hurt him.

I stood beside Sasaki and put a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him, but he shrugged me off slowly and gently, so much that it sent a shiver down my spine at how calm he was.

"Leave! Your not welcome here! You let my daughter die!" The father screamed in anger. The wife tried to calm her husband down, but I could tell she blamed Sasaki also.

Sasaki stood straight once more, and turned towards the exit. He didn't say a word as he exited the building. I follow him with the others, and as he stops and glances behind him, a small smile forms on his face.

"You should go back inside, it's warm there." He said, his expression, even though had a smile on it, made me feel sick.

Urie frowned. "Where are you going, Haise?" He asked.

Sasaki looked back down the street, then started to walk with silence. The air around us all was dry and cold. The feeling of sadness tore at my chest, as I watched him walk off in the cold morning.

"Sasaki! Your coming back, right?" I called out to him.

Sasaki stopped once more at the crossroads. He slowly turned around, and all of us froze once we saw his face, and his eyes. The expression of someone that was no longer looking for happiness, but of someone who had lost something important.
