" What worries you, masters you."

Kaneki POV

I let Hinami rest in the guest room, Touka patched her arm up. Me and Touka now stand outside and discuss what has happened.

"I haven't seen her in awhile..." Touka mumbled, rubbing her shoulders.

"Why did she go to Aogiri?" I asked, I have curious this whole time, but why would an innocent girl like her do such a thing?

Touka smiled grimly. "I suppose she felt useless after you left. She couldn't do anything, and said she wanted to change that."

So it was because of me? I feel guilt wash over me and I hang my head. It would make sense, I always kept her at a distance, that probably made her think she wasn't much help.

I should've been more kind, and allowed her free reign of more things. If I had joined back up with Anteiku in time, then maybe the director and the others would still be together with us.

"Well... what do we do? Aogiri is chasing her, so they'll no doubt think she came to us." Touka said, looking a bit distressed.

I stare at the door, then let out a sigh. "I'll protect her."

Touka gave me a look, then suddenly pinched my cheek, hard. I cringe as she lets me go and I rub my cheek. "What was that for?!?"

"Stop acting so high and mighty. Rely on me some more, I'm your friend after all." She said with a pout.

I flinch and stare down at her. She had much longer hair now, going a bit over her shoulders, but I can't say I didn't like it that way. I smile at this though.

"Why are you smiling like that?" She mumbled.

"Because theaters first time you yourself called me your friend. It made me happy." I said, a shining smile coming off of me.

Touka turned quickly, so I couldn't see her face. "Y-Yeah! Just watch over her, we'll take turns." She said.

Just as she's about to walk away, we suddenly hear screams coming from the lobby. Me and Touka rush into the cafe to see people in red cloaks there, looking around and flipping tables.

I quickly pull Touka out of view, and hold her against my chest so they wouldn't see us. She at first squirmed, but froze when we heard them talking.

"Where are the workers?" One said, sounding annoyed.

Another spoke up, sounded like a woman. "They aren't in the front, check the back." She ordered.

A third voice chimed in, but was cut off by a loud crashing sound. "Who are you people? What the-!"

Crash!

I let go of Touka and rush into the lobby, and find a weird sight. There in the lobby stood Urie, who had impaled one of the ghouls through the chest with his quinque.

"I'm a ghoul investigator." Urie said, pushing the dead ghoul off his sword and then quickly blocking an attack from the woman.

He side stepped her, then slashed her hip, spraying blood across the floor. The woman fell dead on the floor, and the third took a step back nervously.

I grab my mask from under the counter and place it on my face, and walk into view behind the ghoul, blocking his escape. Urie gave me a confused look, then he seemed to realize it was me, and his expression softened some.

"W-What? Eye Patch? Shit!" The ghoul said, looking distressed.

"What's the matter? You gonna stay for some coffee? I have some questions I want to ask you." I said, placing a hand on his shoulder and talking in a chilling voice.
