"The villain is just a broken hero."

Rize POV

I waited outside the room silently. After capturing Kanou, Levin went into the room he was holding him in and hasn't come out since last night.

When he had come back from his encounter with Kaneki, he was beat up pretty bad, but not as bad as Kaneki, I would think. Levin said that he won that fight, but he could tell that both of them were holding back.

They weren't really trying to kill one another. Levin said next time he will kill them if they get in the way. But isn't that what you wanted, Levin? For them to try and stop you, the villain?

Your true goal, after all, is...

I glanced at the TV which was on across the hall in the living room. A news report covered up a bunch of riots over the King and Nest. I could see signs people holding that said things like:

Equal rights for ghouls!

Help the King!

Burn the Crow!

People are rallying. With the conversation heard on the train with Kaneki and Levin, and with all the atrocities the Crow has committed, people are starting to think differently about ghouls.

They're starting to think there are good and bad ghouls. Not just bad. I chuckled at the sight of it. To think I'm on the bad side of that coin.

The door opened suddenly, Levin walking out and closing the door behind him. He glanced over at me. "Get everything ready. Take him to the location I want, and do it." He said.

I nodded as he walked past me. "What about you?" I asked. For the past few times we've talked, he's been distant, always thinking hard about something.

Levin stopped and glanced back at me with a small smile. "Knowing Kaneki, he will try to contact the Railroad next. I'm heading there to set the bar straight." He said.

"Killing them?" I wondered.

"No. Just sending a message." He turned and walked out the door, leaving me alone in the empty apartment. Well, not alone if you counted the insect known as Kanou who was locked inside the room Levin exited.

I open the door a little and glance inside. Kanou stares up at the light at the ceiling, with a blank look and drool coming from his mouth. There is smoke coming from his hands which had been burned so much they had black tar coming from them.

There was also a pair of scissors that had been left in his foot. I walked in and slowly removed the scissors, he squirmed in pain and glanced down. A smile went to his face.

"Well well... if it isn't the ghoul that started this all." He mentioned around us.

I squint at him. "How did I start this?"

"Well, you were the one who attacked Kaneki, right? The one who I found and used to make Kaneki into a half ghoul?" He wondered out loud with a mocking voice. "Think about it, if you hadn't attacked him and maybe, I don't know, just left that day; then you could've lived normally."

"I wouldn't have done that even if I had a choice to go back to then." I said blankly. Kanou raised an eyebrow at this statement.

"Why not?" He asked.

Standing I undid the bindings and pushed him out of the chair, he fell limp on the ground. I smiled at this. "Looks like Levin paralyzed you also? Makes my job easier." I said.

He glared at me, but it nearly made me laugh. To show such a face when he knows he has no place to. It's about time he stopped thinking he was at the top of the food chain.

I grab him by the leg and drag him out. Once I'm finished then I can go to sleep finally.

Levin POV

I sat in a chair in front of a lady with long brown hair, and hazel eyes. Her lab coat made me disgusted, I hated doctors. But she didn't seem afraid with me sitting there.

"We've finished the medical check you told us to do." She said, giving me a blank look, and handing me a clipboard.

I grabbed it and glanced over at her again while scanning the paper. "Aren't you afraid of what I am?" I asked.

"I'm not afraid of what you are. I'm afraid of who you are, Levin Seto." She said, sipping her coffee. "Want some?"

"No thanks." I mumbled. Very chum for a railroad doctor that I practically forced to do a check up on my blood and health.

Looking at the check up, I bit my lip, and placed it down. We sat in silence then, and she stood and went to the window, looking outside.

"Your suspicions were right. It seems that you are two thirds ghoul. Your barely human." She explained. "With your mother having the make-up of a garden resident, she was most likely just like Arima Kishou, a half ghoul that could eat normally like a human. And your father was just a powerful ghoul. You are less human than ghoul, but the ability to eat human food passed to you from your mother."

I glanced at the clipboard again, and touched my hair. "My mother..." I trailed off.

Now that I think about it, I knew nothing about my family, my mother and father I knew nothing about, only that they were kind, but behind that kindness were many secrets and lies.

The doctor stopped sipping her cup and stared at me. "Have you told those around you about your condition?" She asked.

I froze up, I didn't think she'd catch on. "Your pretty sly for catching that, doctor." I said with a small smile.

"You should stop dying your hair, and stop lying to yourself." She said this as she got up and put the dishes away. "Don't worry about us helping Goat, we won't. Because if we do, you'll wipe us out, correct?" She guessed.

I slowly nodded.

The doctor smiled. "Tragic, isn't it?" She said.

I stand and grab the handle of the door to leave. But I glance back and let a small smile slip. "It's wouldn't be a great story without tragedy, wouldn't it?"

Third person POV

Somewhere in the city, a sky scraper stood tall in the sky. The wind blew against the cloaks of many Nest members. In the middle of them was Rize, all of them having their masks on.

A news helicopter swooped by, flashing its light at the figure hanging off the side of the building.

The figure was of Kanou, hanging from his intestines from the top of the building. The whole city watched the Nest members leave, and the CCG was too late to catch them.

The blood fell into the street from the corpse, marking the next phase of Nest's plan.

(Levin is hiding something from even his allies? With his bloodline a mess, and the future unknown, a mark is shown to the city to remind them of who is there. Nonetheless I hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful day!) - MnMs171
