Shit.

Is Y/N's first thought when her engagement ring falls down the drain.
She tries to get it out but to no avail.

How could she forget to take it off beforehand?

Currently, her fiancé is at work and expects her to be there with his lunch.
It takes her 10-15 minutes to get to his office but she can't go without the shining ring on her.

As much as she adores him, he gets... iffy, about money.
And considering he spent a fortune on the ring, he won't be happy at all.

Y/N calls the plumbing service, thankful that her mother wrote down a list of useful numbers when she first moved out.
She's told that they can send someone out and that the waiting time is half an hour.

But that's only the bare minimum.

So she gets dressed, pacing back and forth in the hallway to pass the time.
The urge to bite her nails is large and she can't just can't seem to calm down.

What if the plumber doesn't come?
What if she can't go to her fiancé?

What if her ring is lost for eternity?
All the trust she built up will automatically fade away, and she'll be the perpetrator, not the victim.

*Ding!*

Her suffocating thoughts are cut off and she rushes to the front door, quickly unlocking and opening it.
"Are you the plumber!?"

She yells, instantly regretting it as her cheeks heat up at the sight of, yes, the plumber.
The blonde-haired male nods, eyes slightly wide at her outburst of a greeting.

"Sorry, I'm kind of in panic mood right now."
Y/N states, looking down at her fiddling fingers awkwardly.

"Well I'm here to help, you've got a ring in the drain right?"
As she nods, she takes in the sight of the handsome man's attire (do plumbers normally wear faded jeans?) and the worn out toolbox in his right hand.

To her surprise, he smiles, eyes crinkling with delight.
"Well, my name is Jimin and I've rescued many rings before. Let's save this one."

That makes the nauseous feeling in her stomach settle down a little, letting him into the house with a grateful smile.
They walk to the bathroom, where he gets started in the bathtub.

With nothing much to do, or so she thinks, she leans against the doorway, watching him work his magic.
When her phone rings, it snaps her out of a supposed trance, 'I hope I wasn't gawking at him.'

She quickly goes to the bedroom, where her heart drops at the caller ID shown: her fiancé...

She could just not answer but that would make him suspicious.
She takes a deep breath and presses accept. "Hey babe, how are you doing?"

"Oh you know, totally not starving right now."
Her jaw hangs open with the realisation.

She forgot about his lunch too.
"I am so sorry, it's just that I have a plumber over right now- some sort of problem with the bathtub."

"How is that possible? It was fine this morning. Ah this will cost so much Y/N. We'll probably have to use some of the money in the wedding budget."

"I-I don't know what happened but I have my pay check coming in soon so I can pay. I'm coming over with your lunch too-"

"Well now is a bit late for both those things, isn't it? You have to pay today and now my meeting will start with me on an empty, rumbling stomach. Thanks Y/N."

His condescending tone stops once he hangs up. tears pricking at Y/N eyes.
He hates me already and he doesn't even know about the ring yet.

She helplessly makes her way back to the bathroom, despite knowing that the plumber must've heard her through the walls.
The bad feeling inside comes back, combined with her fear and sadness, she feels sick.

"...Are you okay?"
Jimin asks, having heard her footsteps behind him.

She replies with a soft yes, wiping her eyes with her hand.
"Um... what would you do? If your fiancé lost her ring?"

The plumber stops what he's doing and Y/N wishes she hadn't asked him, she just needed to talk to someone but not a man she only met today.
But he doesn't seem to think about it much as he replies.

"I'd want her to tell me."
He says as he looks at her with a gentle gaze, "I wouldn't want her to feel like you do now- as if I wouldn't forgive her... Accidents happen you know?"

The melancholic tears fall down her cheeks, before turning into tears of relief as he suddenly pulls the ring out from the drain.
"Rescued!" He exclaims with a grin on his face.

"Oh my god- thank you so much Jimin!"
He hands Y/N the ring, holding her hand as well.

"This is on me, I'll be off now."
She looks at him with her mouth slightly agape.

"Wait, what? You just saved my life here- let me pay."
He shakes his head with that lovely small smile again.

"Well... can I at least make you some coffee?"
He hesitates, before his lips form a wide grin.

"I'd love one."

The End ♥️
