...15 Weeks...
You and Josh agree to tell his family the next time you're both going to have a free weekend to be in Columbus. It shouldn't be as hard to work out as it is, but it's almost impossible because your schedule doesn't really work with Josh's. And in your highly emotional state, you wonder how you've made it work as long as you have. How you're going to make it work with a baby.
"Mrs. Y/L/N...you have a visitor in the office." You look up from your phone as you walk down the hall of the school building. The bus is gone and all the students are out of the building. And it's Friday meaning you can leave right now. The last thing you want to do is deal with a parent who's upset. "Okay, thanks, Jennifer," you sigh, stuffing your phone back in your pocket and taking a turn into the office. Peeking into the principal's office, you find a familiar snapback atop a very familiar head.
"Josh!" You had no idea he was going to be there. The plan was to meet in Columbus. His arms immediately wrapped around you and you're surrounded by his warmth. Surrounded by the scent of coffee and his cologne. "I missed you," you whispered, voice cracking. "Y/N, don't cry. It's okay." Josh whispered into your hair, running his fingers gently over your back.
He helps you put everything away in your classroom before you hit the road, apparently, he'd stopped by your apartment before coming here because there's a bag of your clothes in the back. And a pillow because he knows you so well. The three hour drive is spent with the two of you catching up. Your hands never leaving each others. Because while you've talked every day, you haven't seen each other in a couple of weeks. Which for the two of you is forever.
You must fall asleep sometime because you wake to your husband's brown eyes watching you, a tender smile on his face. "Y/NN. We're here," he whispers calloused fingers brushing over your cheek. You grumbled as you climb out of the SUV behind him, your hands immediately joining together as you walk up the front walk of his childhood home. You can see Laura looking at you through the front window, waving excitedly since you haven't seen them since the wedding.
"Y/N!" She greets you with a hug as soon as your inside the house. And tears well in your eyes. You wish that your own mom was this excited to see you. Wish your own mom could pour out this much love. But being accepted by Laura, by the entire Dun family, almost makes up for the strain that is your relationship with yours.
Josh's mom cries when Josh tells her. Bill cries too. And though you hate to admit it, their tears make tears well anew in your eyes. Damn hormones. "I'm due in January." You answer the question you can see on the tip of her tongue. "And I'm not resigning yet. Not this school year. Josh and I are still talking about what happens next school year once we have a baby and he's touring. But for now, I'm staying where I am."
There are more tears, more laughter because everyone seems to notice your yawning, notice that you're nodding off, cheek pressed against Josh's shoulder, and he leads you up to his childhood bedroom. "You're gonna be the best dad," you murmur, curling into his side as he slides into bed beside you.
"And you're going to be the best mom, Y/N. Our baby is lucky to have you. I'm lucky to have you." Josh's brown eyes are warm and loving as he watches you tumble into sleep, barely awake long enough to acknowledge his words.
