Josh Dun imagine

You felt sleepy, tired and exhausted, but also lazy, flopping on the couch and grabbing the remote, flipping through the channels carelessly. You stopped on an old rerun of your old favorite show, and then pulled out your phone and checked the time. Josh should be here soon. I mean, the show wouldn't have lasted that long, would it? You sent him a text asking if he was alright, and then closed your eyes, eventually falling asleep. You woke up to someone wrapping their arms around you, nestling their head in the crook of your neck, and cuddling you. "Hmm Josh?" you mumbled sleepily.
"Go to sleep," he whispered. "Get some rest."
"Love you," you murmured with a small smile.
"Love you too," he kissed your cheek and squeezed himself beside you, both of you drifting off to sleep on the couch.
You woke up and felt someone's arms around you. You instantly remembered Josh and grinned, yawning and rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, sitting up and attempting to shake him awake. "Come on Josh," you ran your fingers through his hair, your voice soft, watching him stir awake. "You've got to get up. The fans are waiting."
"They are?" a goofy smile spread across his face, his eyes still closed. "They're so nice."
"They are, aren't they?" you chuckled. "Now come on, they want to see you. They can't do that if you're laying on the couch."
"But I'm comfy," he grumbled. "And you're here. And I'm tired. And I'm still tired from yesterday."
"Josh," you rubbed his back. "We got to get up. Come on babe."
"Okay," he complied, getting up and stretching, fluttering open his eyelids and looking around. "Breakfast?"
"Yeah," you nodded. "What do you feel like?"
"Cereal sound good to you?" he shrugged. "I don't really feel like going out this morning."
"I don't either," you agreed.
"So cereal?" he reconfirmed.
"Sounds great," you gave him a kiss on the cheek. He stumbled to the hotel fridge and you sighed. "Let me get it, sweetie. It's okay. You go get dressed."
"Thanks honey," he yawned. He staggered over to the bedroom, and you watched him, making sure he didn't fall over. He sure was tired. You poured him a bowl of Reese's Puffs cereal and set it on the table, and you poured a bowl of your favorite kind too, and then walked over to the door and knocked a couple times.
"Hey, you in there?" you asked. "You okay?"
"Yeah," he mumbled. "I'm just really tired."
"Can I come in?" you wondered.
"Sure," he replied.
You creaked the door open and he was sliding on his sweatshirt lazily, sitting on the edge of his bed. "Did you get a good sleep last night? You sure seem really tired this morning," you told him, concerned.
"I'm fine," he waved you off.
"What time did you come home from the show last night?" you tilted your head to the side.
"I don't know," he shrugged.
"Yes you do," you narrowed your eyes. "Why are you lying to me, Josh?"
"I was just exhausted," he replied. "I needed a couple Red Bulls to stay awake on the drive back."
"Well don't drive if you're too tired," you agreed. "Couldn't you have asked someone else to give you a ride?"
"It's fine, please," he shook his head.
"Okay," you dropped the subject for now. "You're cereal's waiting on the table."
"Thank you," he smiled, walking out of the bedroom and sitting at the table. You sat with him, both of you munching on your cereal and you analyzed him. Something was different. Not right.
You had dated Joshua Dun for going on two years now. You knew him inside and out, all his deepest secrets and tricks up his sleeve. You could basically read each other's minds. You knew each other like twin siblings, and you guys had spent so much time together it was crazy. You were basically always around Tyler too, considering that Josh and Tyler was best friends, and in a band together as well. On the road though, you weren't able to see him as much, seeing as he was usually at photo shoots, interviews, meet and greets, practices, sound checks, or performing at shows. You had a lot of time to kill, and although your job was fairly difficult, you still had plenty of time on your hands. When you weren't worrying about Josh or out buying him new hats or sweatshirts, Oreos and Red Bull, and not to forget cereal, you were usually busy sorting out his things and organizing his stuff. While on the road and on the go, he didn't quite have much time to get everything how he wanted it, and you were always there to help him out when he needed it.
Everything Josh did you usually were updated on. From getting a new drum set to just going out for half an hour for a skate, or if he was coming home from a show late or hanging out with Tyler, you usually knew. It was odd for him to all of a sudden just totally leave you out of the loop, much less lie to you. You knew he was lying. You knew almost everything about him. He was just particularly hard to decipher this morning. All you knew was that something wasn't quite right. After you both finished your cereal and Josh left the hotel for an early morning skate, you sat down on the couch and pulled out your phone, deciding to call the one person who knew Josh even better than you did, and that was his best friend for life, Tyler Joseph.
It only took a couple rings before he picked up. "You've reached Tyler Joseph," he greeted.
"Hey Tyler, it's y/n," you responded.
"Oh hey," he laughed. "What's up?"
"Is Josh okay? He's seemed a little off lately," you explained. "I don't know. He seems really sleepy. Did you guys get done with the show late?"
"Yeah, traffic was held up and Josh was a little tired, he decided to hang back and have a couple Red Bulls and reenergize with me before he hit the road," Tyler reassured. "It's all good."
"I don't know," you murmured. "He was still acting pretty odd."
"Don't worry, he'll be fine," Tyler insisted. "I'll keep an eye on the boy for you."
"Thanks," you sighed. "I'm just worried about him."
"You're always worried about him," Tyler chuckled.
"That's true," you nodded.
"He's in good hands," Tyler told you. "No need to worry about Josh, I'll protect him. I'll keep my eyes on him for you."
"Okay, thanks," you smiled. "He's on a skate right now and he should be back for a shower a little later. Then he'll head over to the venue. It's only a couple cities away, right?"
"Yeah," Tyler answered. "I'll see you later then, y/n."
"Bye," you responded. You hung up the call and then leaned back in your seat.
You couldn't help it though. You still felt like you were being lied to. Something still wasn't right. But Tyler wouldn't have lied to you, would he? You couldn't help it. You knew Josh didn't leave anywhere without his phone, but you still searched his bedside to see if it was charging. If he was really that tired last night, he would've forgot to charge his phone and then remembered in the morning. You went to the room and checked all the electrical plugs, but his phone was nowhere to be found. There was something very strange going on, and you didn't know what it was. You sighed and flopped down on the couch. Things weren't adding up right. Josh never acted so mysterious like this.
When Josh got back from his morning skate and went to take a shower, he left his phone on the nightstand, leaving it charging. When he got in the bathroom and you heard the water start running, you dashed over to his phone and grabbed it. You've never done anything like this ever before, but you were just dying to know. You had to know. You first checked his messages, where you spotted your name, Tyler's, his sister and... Debby? As in his ex girlfriend Debby Ryan? You widened your eyes and tried to read one of the messages he had sent her, but you heard the bathroom door swinging open and you quickly swiped the app up and hit the lockscreen button, laying on the couch and trying to act innocent and casual. Josh swung open the door, still fully dressed and laughed. "Almost forgot my shower music," he rolled his eyes. He walked over to the nightstand, unplugging his phone and giving you a kiss on the forehead. "See you later, my love."
"Okay," you mumbled, watching him leave. Your head was spinning. He had an iPod to play his music off of, didn't he? Why would he need his phone, much less while taking a shower? And why was he talking to his ex? Why was he texting her? You racked your brain trying to remember what slight glimpse you got of the message he had sent her, something about liking something the best. What the hell could that mean? You felt hurt, left out, and extremely confused. Why would he ever keep something from you? You never knew Josh to be the kind of person to leave you out of the loop on things, much less do things behind your back, or be sneaky or secretive. Why was he acting to weird all of a sudden?
When he got out of the shower, not drying off all the way, like always, you looked at him quizzically. "What's wrong, y/n?" he wondered. "You okay?"
"Yeah, just tired," you shrugged.
"Really?" he raised his eyebrows.
"A little bit," you mumbled.
"Well I got to go to practice. Do you want to come with me maybe?" he wondered.
"Sure," you agreed.
The car ride there was silent, except for his music booming through the stereo aux cord, which was strange. Usually you and Josh had either deep conversations or silly arguments, something, anything really, just to keep you two company. You never usually ran out of things to say, but for some reason, both of you were staying quiet today. It was so strange, to see him act this way, completely out of the blue. You started to question whether something bad happened last night, if he had a nightmare and couldn't fall asleep maybe, if something was wrong. But that didn't seem the case. He was definitely keeping something from you, keeping secrets and plans and something, but you didn't know what. He seemed nervous too. He was tapping on the driver's wheel and darting his eyes around and seemed really distracted. He looked tense, and uncomfortable, and something else... You couldn't ever wrap your mind around the fact that Josh would ever be keeping something from you.
When you got to the venue, Josh gave you a hug and a kiss, and then left to go practice with Tyler, where you sat on the ground and watched them. You were still curious though, and you mind kept drifting off to the fact that all their stuff would be left in the dressing room. Maybe if you snuck in there and snooped around a little bit, maybe took a peek at a couple of stuff, it wouldn't be terrible, would it? You saw them go towards the opposite direction and you decided to go into the dressing room and just peek around a little bit. Maybe five minutes at the most. You just had to know what was going on.
You crept to the dressing room and got in without ease. Most security guards already knew you belonged with Josh, so they let you pass basically wherever you wanted, well, other than in the center of the stage when it was show time. You walked into the dressing room and spotted Josh's stuff, as well as a bouquet of flowers, and... Wait, what? You picked up his phone, looking at a new text from Debby saying good luck. You gave him good luck texts before shows. That was your thing. And the flowers? When did Josh ever get you flowers? Never. You inspected everything and shook your head. No, he wouldn't do that. He would never do something like that. You refused to even believe the possibility of such thoughts. Josh would never do that to you. You picked up his sweatshirt and underneath was a box, wait, a box? Why would there we a small box? What was going on?
"Y/n!" you heard someone shout behind you. But by then it was too late. You were holding the box in your hand and Josh's sweatshirt in the other, the good luck text still on the lockscreen of his phone and the bouquet of flowers sitting there as well.
You turned around to see Tyler rushing towards you, yanking you away from the scene, picking up the box and trying to put everything back how it was. "You saw nothing, understand? You never came in here and you don't know what's going on? Got it?" he drilled you, dragging you out the door.
"Tyler," you shook your head. "I need answers. Now."
"He thought you were ready," Tyler sighed. "We all thought you were."
"Why? Why would he do something like that?" you wondered.
"What? You don't like it?" Tyler asked. "Are you going to tell him no?"
"How the fuck do you tell someone no to a break up? If he wants to break up with me, I get it. Whatever," you held back your tears and folded your arms. "I understand."
"Break up with you?" Tyler widened his eyes. "Y/n, you've got it all wrong."
"Huh?" you wondered.
"He was never going to break up with you," Tyler laughed. "He was going to marry you."
"What?" you gasped, your jaw dropping. "But, that doesn't make any sense."
"Why not? There's the bouquet and the ring, right there," Tyler pointed out. "It was supposed to be a surprise, but it looks like someone was too impatient and curious."
"Hold on-" your mind was shutting down. What the hell was going on?
"I know, just calm down," Tyler chuckled. "And do not tell Josh this happened. You still have to pretend to be surprised tonight, okay? Promise me you will."
"But what about Debby? He's been texting her. And last night? He was home late? And he's been acting so weird and not talking to me and-" you closed your eyes tight. "It all just doesn't add up."
"Sure it does," Tyler laughed. "Josh and I have no idea what do get when it comes to jewelry. Debby on the other hand, she's perfect with that sort of stuff. So he consulted her with which ring to get for you. She helped pick him out one. I don't even know how you figured out he was texting her."
"That explains the good luck text," you nodded slowly.
"Yeah, good luck on how it goes," Tyler reassured. "And he was home late last night because he was out getting you that ring. And he wasn't talking to you because he was nervous. And why he was acting so weird, he was just trying to keep it all under wraps. He was going to ask you at the end of the show tonight, when your favorite song played. We were going to do the whole Can't Help Falling In Love cover and everything."
"Shit, I'm so sorry," you ran a hand through your hair. "I just fucked everything up, didn't I?"
"Nobody needs to know about this," Tyler hissed. "Just pretend this never happened and just act surprised. Got it?"
"Okay," you laughed. "Geez, I'm sorry. I was just so confused and I had no idea what was going on."
"I get it," Tyler nodded. "Don't worry." He gave you a hug.
"Thanks," you blushed from embarrassment, realizing how stupid you must've acted and sounded.
"I couldn't be happier for Josh. You deserve him. He'll treat you right, better than anyone else in the world," Tyler beamed. "But remember, he's still mine too, right?"
"Always," you giggled.
"So you feel a little better now that everything's sort of cleared up?" Tyler inquired.
"Absolutely," you answered.
"Um, let's not tell Josh about this," Tyler whispered.
"Not tell me what?" Josh asked, walking into the dressing room. Oh fuck. This was going to take a whole lot of explaining to do.
