Josh Dun imagineAn uneasy feeling settled in your stomach the next day when you woke up, curled up on the couch and realizing you had fallen asleep while trying to work. You rubbed your eyes and sat up groggily, yawning and walking to the kitchen, where Josh had left a note for you "Going to the studio, I'll be home tonight. Lots of love, Josh," it read. You smiled and then tucked it in your pocket, going to your bedroom and getting changed. You glanced at the clock, widening your eyes when you realized it was already afternoon. How long had you been asleep for? You had a terrible migraine and felt absolutely horrible, and you instantly wished you could just go back to sleep again, but there were things you needed to get done. You shook your head and picked out some clothes, then walked to the bathroom, feeling particularly dizzy, but ignoring it. You must just feel a little sick, that's all.
You still felt extremely tired, but that was impossible, you had just literally slept all day. You placed your clothes on the counter and turned on the water, your breasts feeling sore as you stripped down naked, stepping underneath the rushing water and closing your eyes. Everything was going to be okay, you had probably just caught a little bug or something. You took a deep breath and ran your hands through your hair, trying to calm yourself down. You heard a knock on the door, and then Josh's voice. "Is that you, y/n?" he inquired.
"Yeah," you responded. "You can come in."
"Mind if I joined? I've had a really long day," he sighed.
"I'd love it if you joined," you admitted. "Please."
It didn't take long before he shed his clothes off on the floor too, sliding open the shower curtain and joining you underneath the water, smiling as he held you in his arms. You felt safe and your worries faded away as he held you, both of you naked and alone, with only each other. You loved him, so much. "How you feeling? You've been asleep all day," he chuckled.
"Like shit," you confessed.
"I'm sorry," he frowned, kissing your forehead. He gave you another hug, tracing your spine with his fingertips, then trailing them up your backside and tangling them in your hair. "I think you need some shampoo."
"Nah," you giggled.
"I think you do," he insisted. "Come on babe, that fabulous hair isn't going to wash itself."
"No I won't," you shook your head playfully.
"You're going to make me wash your hair?" he raised his eyebrows.
"Maybe," you rolled your eyes.
"I'd be honored," he laughed, picking up a bottle of your favorite shampoo and squirting it onto his fingers before lathering it into your hair. "Geez, you're so spoiled."
"Only because of you," you pointed out.
"I know," he beamed. "I love it. I need to treat you like the queen you are. You deserve nothing less."
"I love you Josh," you smiled, relaxing your shoulders despite your stomach cramps. You still felt miserable, but at least his company relieved your chaotic mind.
"I love you too, y/n," he replied. "Now come on, I believe we've got to get the conditioner too."
"If you insist," you grinned.
You both enjoyed your shower, exchanging kisses and backrubs, hugs and whispers, when finally, the water started growing cold and you both decided to dry off and get changed. Josh, like always, never dried off all the way, and you took the time to do it for him, then both of you walked out into the kitchen where you remembered that you still had to cook dinner. You groaned and then turned on the stove, opening up the cabinets and looking for a pan to cook with. "What do you think you're doing, silly?" Josh wondered.
"We still need to eat dinner," you reminded. "Remember?"
"You're not cooking," he argued, taking the pan out of your hand and putting it back into the cabinet. "Not on my watch."
"Why not? We need food," you explained. Maybe that was why your stomach hurt, you were just a little hungry. You decided that was probably the issue, and the headache was just from napping too long. Then why were you still sleepy? You decided to push away the thoughts and listen to what Josh was saying instead.
"You feel like total crap, I'm not going to do that to you," he shook his head. "Let's go out to eat."
"No," you debated. "I can cook. Really, there's some food in the fridge I just need to fry. It won't even be long."
"I can do it then," Josh volunteered.
"I'm cooking," you protested. "You don't need to. Just because I don't feel good doesn't mean it's the end of the world. We're still eating dinner."
"I never said we were eating dinner," he sighed. "I'm just saying that we don't have to cook. We can eat out you know. What about Taco Bell? Huh?"
"O-okay," you stammered.
"What?" a smile crept up on his lips.
"I said okay," you stifled a smile.
"Hmm?" he still joked.
"I'm agreeing with you!" you finally confessed. "Is that what you wanted to hear?"
"Sure," he giggled. "I just love knowing that I can change your mind so fast."
"Oh shut up," you rolled your eyes.
"It's true," he smirked.
"Well there's one thing you'll never be able to change my mind about," you put your hands on your hips.
"What would that be?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Loving you," you kissed him on the lips quickly.
"Well damn," he laughed. "Why would I ever want to change your mind about that?"
The rest of the night consisted of you two driving to Taco Bell, Josh having to order twice as much because you ate like a freaking barbarian, his words not yours, and then going home and watching Netflix on the couch. You absolutely adored watching Stranger Things with Josh, mainly because he would gasp or yelp whenever something crazy happened, and it was priceless. But this time, it was a little different, because Josh had insisted on rubbing your back while you watched, hopefully to make you feel better and ease the tension in your muscles. You ended up falling asleep in his arms, during that moment feeling amazing and wonderful. But it didn't last long.
The next morning you woke up feeling absolutely sick to the stomach. You staggered up from the couch, knowing Josh had gone to the studio to work with Tyler again, barley able to stand. You clenched your stomach, the cramps growing twice as worse, and your migraine was throbbing. Something was definitely wrong. You were about to sit back down when you felt it, the feeling rising up in your throat and you raced to the bathroom, where you vomited in the sink. Your stomach only felt twice as bad, and your nausea increased, and you stared at yourself in the mirror, pale face and tired expression unfamiliar. What was going on?
You cleaned up the mess, rinsing away your vomit and trying to regain control, calming down with deep breaths. You pulled out your phone from your pocket, taking a peek at a couple 'good morning' and 'how are you feeling' texts from Josh, and going to your browser, typing in your symptoms. This wasn't a fever or flu, you genuinely felt absolutely horrific, and you didn't know why. Something was just different. That's when you hit the search button, waited for it to load, and scrolled through the results to find... No way.
Your eyes widened and you shook your head, unable to even process the thought. You had never even dwelled on the idea of being pregnant. Sure, you and Josh had sex, many times, but being parents? To be a mother? Having a child? You didn't know how to approach the whole thing. Surely this was just a mistake, some symptoms that came close to it, but you tried remembering the last time you had your period, and you couldn't think right. Surely you just skipped a month by accident, it was normal to miss a month or two sometimes, right?
Your heart started racing, unsure how to handle this information. You could possibly be pregnant. That meant raising a kid, being a mother, giving birth, telling Josh, oh my goodness. You had to tell Josh if this was true. What would he think? Your mind raced, your breathing instantly quickened, your heartbeat pounding. What if you really were, you know, pregnant? What would you do? Who would you tell? Where would you go? What if Josh hated you? What if he didn't want a kid? What if he didn't want you anymore? You couldn't take this; it was driving you insane. Just the possibility of this happening, it was eating you alive. You needed to know, you had to have confirmation that this was just some silly mess up, that this was just a dream or a weird little nothing, that it wasn't anything important. You had always used condoms, there shouldn't be that possibility. Perhaps it was probably a mix up of side effects. It must just be some other illness, maybe you're just sick, it couldn't be pregnancy. Could it?
There was only really one way to find out. You checked the time, realizing that you had a couple hours before Josh would come home, and you set out for the pharmacy to grab a pregnancy test really quick. If you got it done and just found out for yourself, that this was indeed nothing, then it would relieve your worried mind and you wouldn't have to tell Josh and you could just take a handful of pain killers and make this migraine go away. You rushed home, reading the instructions and doing as told, now knowing all you had to do was wait.
You nervously tapped your foot on the tile floor, staring at the stick sitting on the counter, unsure what the heck the results would show you. You bit down on your lower lip, trying to calm down, but it was useless. Maybe a couple minutes walking away from it and coming back would help. You took a deep breath and then exited the bathroom, sitting down on the couch and reassessing the situation. You couldn't argue with yourself, you hadn't had your period in two months. You had grown a little bit of a stomach, but it wasn't much, and you had assumed it was just because you had been eating a little bit more. Okay, a lot more. Even Josh had called you a freaking barbarian eater, but it was just joking, and you thought maybe it was good for you to gain a couple pounds, just because.
You groaned and then checked the clock, realizing that it was well over the wait time. You closed your eyes tight and then got up off the couch, scared and anxious, deciding to go check. You crept into the bathroom, going to the counter and looking down at the results. There it was. No arguing that. You could see with your very two eyes, that there was no misunderstanding or excuse for the dark positive plus arrow that delivered probably the biggest news of your life. You were pregnant, you were a mother, you were going to have a child. Your mind swirled and you began to feel light headed. Was this even real? You gasped, steadying yourself by gripping onto the counter, picking up the evidence and examining it closer. Yeah, it was real. How the fuck were you supposed to tell Josh?
You had been dating for a while now, but still. That's when you felt the bathroom door creak open again, and you jumped, accidentally dropping the stick on the floor, and Josh stared at you quizzically. "Hey, you okay?" he wondered, confused. "Geez, sorry I scared you."
"Um, uh..." you gulped, looking at his eyes and absolutely terrified. You didn't know how to tell him, but you knew for sure you did not want him to find out this way.
"Hey what's-" he began but he looked down at what he found on the floor and then looked up at you, misunderstanding eyes softening. His brow furrowed, exchanging glances with what was laying on the floor and you, before bending down to pick it up and see for himself. You closed your eyes, breathing growing rapid, your heart felt as if it might fall out of your chest. No, this isn't how you wanted him to find out. Not at all. He held it, eyes widened and his mouth parted open in surprise, staring at the results in complete shock.
"Look Josh..." your voice trailed off, and you tried to stop the tears from rolling down your cheeks, but it was impossible. You couldn't control your emotions.
"Y/n?" he whispered your name.
"I know," you sobbed, hiding your face in your hands.
"I can't believe this," he murmured.
"I'm so sorry," you shook your head.
"Wait. What?" he looked up at you, now even twice as confused. "Y/n?" He stood up, setting the test on the counter and walking over to you, holding your face in his hands, your arms falling to your side. Your tear streaked face looked up at him, absolutely puzzled, unsure of why he could possibly be grinning like that.
"Why are you smiling?" you asked.
"Because," his grin grew larger. "It's the best news of my entire life."
"What do you mean?" you sniffled as he wiped away your tears from your eyes with his thumbs. "I thought, uh, I thought you'd be angry."
"Why would I be angry?" he laughed. "Y/n, I am overjoyed. We're going to have a baby. I'm going to be a dad! You're going to be a mom! And we're going to have such a beautiful child." He hugged you tight, your sobs turning into laughter, a flood of relief filling you.
"You're happy?" you wondered.
"I'm ecstatic!" he beamed. "Aren't you?"
"Yeah," you nodded, coming to your senses. "I was just afraid, I don't know. I didn't know how you'd take the news, and I was scared."
"I am the happiest man in the world," Josh kissed you on the lips. "I love you, y/n. I always have and I always will. And I can't wait to live the rest of my life with you and our baby."
"I love you Josh," you sighed happily, burying your face in his chest. You released the embrace and he pressed a hand to your stomach gently, glancing down and then looking back up at you with the biggest smile on his face. You shouldn't have been doubtful at all. Josh was here to stay, no matter what happened. He loved you as much as you loved him, and he was spectacular. You were excited to know that your baby would have the best father in the world. You were excited to know that your kid would grow up in a loving house, with supportive parents, with someone like Josh there to help them through life. You were going to do everything in your power to take care of this little child. You thought about raising your kid, how you and Josh would help them listen to music, teach them how to talk, share jokes and stories... You were starting a family with Josh. And you couldn't be happier.Credit to thepatricktreestump on Tumblr
