Getting cast in Free Guy was the big career move I needed. Working with someone like Ryan Reynolds would definitely put me on the map. I started acting three years ago. Nothing too big. Just small appearances on tv shows and tv movies. This was going to be my big break.

I hope.

I walked out of the costume trailer and headed toward set. I nervously played with my fingers, running through the stunt in my head. We break through the window and jump onto a green screen bar. We have a safety harness in case something goes wrong.

I gasped when I bumped into someone. I looked up, my breath getting caught in my throat when I saw Joe smiling down at me.

Joe and I met at an event for Netflix. He was there for Stranger Things, I was there for a small movie I did for Netflix. We bumped into each other and Joe accidentally spilled his drink down my dress. He gave me his suit coat and we spent the entire night just talking. We exchanged numbers and stayed in touch.

"Are you guys ready to rehearse the final scene?"

"Yep!" Joe chuckled. I glanced over at Joe's smiling face, the butterflies in my stomach waking up. Before we filmed the big stunt scene, Joe and I were rehearsing our characters' final scene.

"Of course," I nodded, quickly looking away from him.

"Perfect," Shawn smiled. He clapped his hands and rubbed them together. "Places."

I glanced over at Joe before clearing my throat and walking to my starting mark.

"Action!"

I waited a few beats before running down the street and into the view of the camera. When I got to my spot, I turned and saw Joe.

"Keys!"

We stared at each other from across the street. I could practically hear the music they planned to use for this moment. Joe and I stood across the street from each other, cars constantly driving between us. The longer we stared at each other, the crazier the butterflies in my stomach went.

"And. . . Go," Shawn whispered.

As instructed, we jogged to our next spots, inches from each other. The second we met, we leaned in and kissed. Those butterflies I mentioned earlier went absolutely nuts as our lips moved in sync.

"Cut!" Shawn yelled. We pulled apart, both of us out of breath. I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine.

"Wow," I whispered before I could stop myself. "That was. . ."

"Yeah," Joe chuckled.

"Yeah?"

We slowly pulled out of our embrace, taking a few steps away from each other. I instantly wrapped my arms around myself. Joe opened his mouth to say something but Shawn interrupted.

"That was perfect, you two!" He jogged over and patted us on our backs. "We'll film that for real tomorrow. Right now, Y/N, it's time for the motorcycle stunt!"

I was nervously pacing back and forth in my trailer, playing with my hands, unable to stand still. I continued to play with my hands as I walked to set. My head was down so I didn't see Joe in front of me until it was too late.

"Whoa," he laughed as he gently grabbed my shoulders. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I stuttered.

"No, you aren't," Joe mumbled.

I started to walk away, but he grabbed my arm. He turned me towards him, his hand slowly dragging down my arm until he intertwined our fingers.

"What's going on, Y/N?"
