Got My Back-Keys

The day started off as the worst Monday in Monday History. My alarm didn't go off. It seemed like all my clothes were dirty. I was hungry and sick at the same time. My sock had a hole in it. My shoe broke. My car wouldn't start. When it finally did, I got stuck in traffic.

I jogged into the office, quickly sitting at my cubicle. I sat down and the weight slowly lifted off my shoulders. I closed my eyes and took a slow breath.

"You okay?"

I jumped, my heartbeat speeding back up. I looked over my shoulder to see Keys smiling down at me.

"Sorry," I stuttered. "It's just been one of those days."

"I'm sorry," Keys sighed. He slowly smiled as he brought a coffee from behind his back. "Would a coffee, cream, and two sugars make your day better?"

"Yes," I giggled as I took it. "But you know what would make me feel even better?"

"What?" He smirked as he leaned on the wall of my cubicle.

"A kiss from my super smart, attractive secret boyfriend."

"I'm not your secret boyfriend," Keys stuttered. "I just don't want people to know about us."

"Right," I mumbled as I looked down at the coffee Keys got me.

"Y/N," he sighed. "I didn't mean it like that."

"I know," I shrugged. "We've had this conversation hundreds of times before. We had it on our first date. You don't want people at work to know about us."

"It's because we're surrounded by guys," he tried to explain.

"Keys," I cut him off before he goes on his work-place-of-creeps rant. "No one else has noticed me since I started working here. They aren't going to suddenly notice that I'm here because I started dating someone."

"You don't understand, Y/N. These guys. . ."

"Keys," I cut him off again. "I have a lot of work to do."

Throughout the day, I was constantly uncomfortable. Every little thing seemed to either make me laugh, cry, or yell. I walked into the employee breakroom and started making myself another cup of coffee.

I gasped when Keys suddenly appeared, wrapping his arm around my waist.

"What are you doing?" I chuckled. "You never show affection at work."

"You bled through your pants, gorgeous," he whispered.

"What?" I stuttered.

"Here," he said sweetly. He took off his flannel and started wrapping it around my waist. My hands were shaking as I reached down and tied it.

"See?" Keys chuckled. "No one has to know."

He turned me around, his smile dropping when he saw the tears building up in my eyes.

"It's okay," he shushed me. "Just breathe."

"This is so embarrassing," I said as tears started streaming down my face. I reached down and tightened Keys' flannel around my waist. He reached up and cupped my cheek in his hand.

"No one noticed," he reassured. "I did before anyone else. That's why I'm here, baby."

I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled up at him.

"I'm sorry for being snippy with you this morning," I whispered.

"It's okay," Keys smiled. "I know you didn't mean it."

"This is so. . . I can't believe I'm blubbering like a baby. Jeez, I'm pathetic."

"No, you're not," Keys said gently. "It's just life. All girls go through this."

"I know, but if I'm this bad just on my period, I'd hate to see how bad I'm going to get when I'm actually pregnant."

"Doesn't matter," Keys shrugged. "I'll have your back during that time too."

I stood on my toes and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. He was the one who deepened it.

"I meant it," he mumbled against my lips. He broke the kiss and looked down at me. "I will always have your back, Y/N."

"And I'll always have your back, Keys."

He pulled me back into his chest, pressing his lips onto mine. I smiled as I tightened my arms around his neck and kissed him back. For the first time since we started dating, neither one of us cared about our coworkers finding out about us.

"I knew it!"

We jumped out of the kiss and turned to see Mouser standing in the doorway.

"I knew you guys were together," he laughed. "By the way, you were both shit at hiding it."
