Hey!
I think it's pretty obvious that this guy really likes you, and if he told you that he doesn't have a girlfriend, then he probably is telling the truth. Then again, maybe he isn't. He does seem to be really pushy, and is ready to do anything to be your best friend—which includes lying. If a lot of people are saying that he does have a girlfriend, and you just want to know the truth, I think that asking him again and telling him about the rumors would be a good place to start. Also, don't worry about whether or not he likes you just yet. You just started school, and I think it takes a little more time to be certain of this, so don't worry about that. He seems very, very interested in you—at least with all the texting, walking home, and flirting.
