When I woke up, my vision was blurrier than usual. My contacts must have fallen out from the punch when that beast hit me. I mustn't have noticed last night. Anyway, I tend to sleep with them in since they are a special type of contact. It also saves me time in the morning so I don't have to deal with them, then putting on glasses.

I then got out of bed, but as soon as I stood up, I fell back onto my bed. I guess that I did bleed too much last night.

'I'm not going to be a little bitch and walk about as if I'm weaker than a limp noodle. I'm going to tough through this!'

I stood up, stumbled about for a few steps, then walked to the bathroom. I changed the bandages before I put on my hoodie and skinny jeans. Just as I stumble out of the bathroom, I stop to look at the time. I noticed that I had an hour and a half before I had to arrive at the hospital. I walked the best I could to the kitchen and made myself a fried egg. I figured that I need the protein since it may help me get my strength back quicker.

I got out a pan and left it heating on the burner while I went to grab silverware and a plate along with the egg. When I figured that the pan was hot enough I cracked the egg and just as I hit it on the side of the pan it somehow slipped out of my hand and onto the floor.

"Fuck." I muttered under my breath.

I then turn off the burner, got some wet paper towels and cleaned it up. While I was in the middle of cleaning I heard footsteps approach from behind me.

"Dropped an egg, hmm?" Yamada said as he reached over me to grab a mug from the cupboard.

I responded as I stood up with raw egg filled paper towels and walked to the garbage can, "Yeah." I said sounding quite down. When I threw the trash in the garbage, I all of a sudden got light headed and decided to lean on the counter for a bit. Still a little light headed I asked, "Mind if you turn on the burner, please."

"Not at all." He then went to the stove and turned on the burner.

I then said as I walked slowly to the fridge, "Thank you."

While I walked to the fridge, he turned his head slightly and looked at me from the corner of his eye. "You're looking pale again...are you alright? Are you-"

I cut him off, "No! No, of course not. I'm just...I don't feel quite well today."

He then looked back at his mug which was filled with coffee, "Okay, I believe you."

I breathed a sigh of relief internally. I then got the egg, cracked it more carefully this time, and landed it in the pan like I had planned. I then let it sizzle for a little bit before I flipped it onto my plate. While I was on my way to the table, my left knee gave out for a second and caused me to stumble a little which made me drop my plate. Since Yamada was right behind me, he ran and caught the plate before it fell and shattered on the ground.

I stood there in shock for a few seconds while he just stood there holding the plate. I then said, "Thank you for catching the plate."

He then walked to the table and sat the plate down, "Yeah, no problem, but I'm saddened to say that the egg did not survive."

I then looked down at my fried egg which now lay cold upon the hardwood floor. We both stared at it for the longest time before I picked up the egg and threw it in the garbage, then walked to the table and rested my head on my crossed arms which were on the table.

"To hell with eating. I'll stop by the supermarket and grab a protein shake on my way to the hospital." I said in defeat, "The universe is telling me that I shouldn't have an egg today." I said as I closed my eyes. I then heard Yamada walk over to the kitchen and open the door to the pantry. After a few quiet ruffles, he closed the pantry door and walked back to the table. I opened my eyes slowly.
