After we had our exams before summer break, we finally were able to leave for our class trip. When the day came that we were to leave for our trip to the lodge in the forest, I woke up that morning kinda dreading it. I kinda didn't want to go because I wanted to stay back at the apartment with Melody and sleep in by the least somewhat. I got ready in a way that if anyone saw me, they could tell in my manner that I didn't want to go. I threw on my uniform, did my hair and told myself that the few days were going to go by fast; hopefully. I already had my backpack packed with all what I needed, then moped down to slip on my shoes. When I got to my shoes, I decided to walk out of the hallway to see if Aizawa was ready yet; he wasn't. I walked to the sofa and flopped my bag on the floor as I flopped onto the sofa myself and laid there as I waited. I would have fallen asleep if Yamada didn't start talking to me.
"Are you excited for the trip?" he asked me as he leaned over the back of the sofa.
Sounding unenthused I said, "Mmm-not really...it's already summer break and I want to sleep in; not to mention the killer heat."
He laughed as he said, "Now you're starting to sound like Sho!"
"It's true though." I said as I closed my eyes.
From looking at me, he quickly looked down then said, "Well, what're you doing down here? I haven't seen you in a while!" He bent down and picked up what I presumed was Melody. I opened my eyes to see that he stood back up and was holding her. He said as he looked at her, "She sure has grown, hasn't she?"
"Yep, she's so sweet too; she follows me around everywhere and barely ever leaves my side." I said as I shut my eyes again.
"Well, that's what happens when you save someone. They tend to follow you wherever you go since they feel safe around you." He said with a smile and sounded as if he was talking from experience.
I squinted one eye open to look at him, but then closed it just as I said, "It feels nice having her around, I don't feel alone."
I could tell that he was smiling by the way he talked, "That's good to hear."
"You better expect that she'll follow you around the whole time that we're gone." I said, forewarning him of what could happen.
"I won't mind." I heard him set Melody on the back of the sofa, which she then jumped onto my stomach, making me shoot my eyes open and grunt from the unexpected impact. Yamada laughed at what just happened. After he calmed down he said, "Sorry, I didn't know she was going to do that."
"It's fine." I said as I lifted Melody off of me and sat up as I held her. "She'll want a little attention every now and then, so please, give her attention and don't forget to feed her. She knows when she gets fed, so when she starts to paw at your leg, you know it's feeding time."
Sounding amazed he said, "Huh, so cats even have a schedule of their own."
"Yep; I even have portions measured out, so just give her one of those and she'll be good to go until her next feeding time." I said, concluding my instructions.
Yamada chuckled as he said, "I'm sure I know how to take care of a cat." then leaned on the back of the sofa.
Aizawa opened the door to their room and walked out with a yawn and a duffel bag in one hand. "Ready?" He asked me as he stood next to Yamada.
I sat Melody to the side of me and stood up. "Yeah, I suppose so."
We then walked over to the door to put on our shoes. When I stood up again, my back popped in the process of straightening it out.
"You alright? You're starting to sound like an old person." Yamada said with a chuckle at the end.
I sighed, "Yeah, damn joins are always cracking, popping, and locking." I said as I put a hand on the doorknob while I tucked the other in the pocket of my pants.
