(Note: This does not take place during the regular story; this is just a little story of its own)
(If you didn't know, Japan celebrates Christmas too. It's not really acknowledged for it's religious meaning like it would be here in America. Its rather for romance, presents, and fried chicken. Yeah, the chicken is kinda the odd part. Instead of a meal like in America, they buy chicken from KFC pretty much and eat that. It's a tradition that started around 1974, which was four years after KFC was introduced to the country....man, thinking about KFC makes me want some of their biscuits now!)
I woke up to the smell of chicken, which was odd. I rolled out of bed and walked tiredly to the bathroom to get ready as I usually would by doing my hair and changing into jeans and a hoodie. I then open my bedroom door to be greeted by the stronger scent of the chicken. When I walked to the railing in front of my bedroom, I realized what day it is; Christmas.
Yamada likes Christmas so much that he got a tree and had Aizawa and I help him decorate it. The apartment doesn't have just a tree- oh no -it's all decorated. There are bows of different sizes around the spindles of the railing of the second story and there are strings of garland that intertwine between the spindles too. He has Christmas ornaments hanging from the ceiling which I had to help put up since the ceiling is so high. There's also a wreath on the door; not to mention the smell of cinnamon that's trapped in the apartment. There's always Christmas music in the air too; he's always humming, singing or listening to the seasonal music.
I personally don't quite care for the holiday, which is probably cause I haven't had a true Christmas; but I think of it more as annoying rather than disliking it just because of the lack of a true Christmas in my life. I mean, how can people not find it annoying? Nearly all of the songs are the same, just sung by different people at different octaves and/or tempos. The scenery is all the same too. I don't quite like all of the joy that it brings because that is honestly annoying. People are all like, "Have a Merry Christmas" sounding all joyous and happy. I'm more honestly an Ebeneezer Scrooge at this time of year. Bah humbug and kiss my ass.
I walked to the sofa back in my room and laid there for a few minutes, not wanting to get up and actually do stuff. Not too long later there was a knock at my bedroom door. I moped over the door to see who wanted what. Once I opened it, I saw that it was Yamada with a huge smile on his face.
"It's time to eat!" he said excitedly.
I walked out, causing him to take a step back and to the side, "Alright...it smells like chicken, so I assume that we're having that?"
He followed besides me, "You know it!"
When we made it to the table, Aizawa was already sitting at the table. It looked odd that he was wearing a green and red sweater with his black sweatpants. I sat on my normal chair which was on the opposite side of the table that Yamada and Aizawa sat at.
"Where's your Christmas spirit?" Aizawa deadpanned.
I replied in a quiet tone so then Yamada wouldn't have been able to hear me since he was in the kitchen gathering things up while he hummed a Christmas tune, "Dead."
He nearly let out a laugh before catching it, "Same, but I gotta wear this to keep him happy." he said in a whisper.
Yamada walked over with a huge plate of fried chicken. "Dig in!" he said with a smile as he took a seat.
"Are these homemade?" Aizawa asked as he took a fairly large piece and sat it on his plate.
I then reached for a medium sized piece of chicken as Yamada replied, "Yep, I figured that we could all try something different this year instead of store or restaurant bought like all of the other years." I looked at him with a confused expression. "What's the matter? Does it taste bad?"
