It was awkward. The two of them sitting in such a cramped space without trying to kill each other the next second. Moreover Fukuzawa wasn't the most talkative person. So he also was clueless about the unknown principles of small talk that were like a secret recipe known by only a few people.

"I can drive too, if you do not wish to do so", the tall man acknowledged since there was nothing else he could think of.

"I can drive myself", the raven said again letting the awkward atmosphere sinking into the car. Fukuzawa started to doubt if this whole trip was so much better than high society talk. "I didn't know you could. Since when can old people drive? I thought they took away your license already?", a polite smile was offered presenting the sudden insult like a delicacy.

Fukuzawa was stunned: "I'm only five years older than you, Mori". Confusion could be seen on his face. His forehead scrunched up. His sharp eyes that had that puppy look if you just stared long enough – not that Mori would have.

A moment of silence.

Both of them started to laugh. The weird feeling of distance faded. After all these man had a history together. They were enemies, eachothers greatest fiends. They knew everything about each other. Weaknesses and strength. Attitude and impulsive reactions. It was as if they had known each other before. Known each other forever. After all these men had gone through the worst times together. A bond was a bond, something undestroyable.

Moris existence pressured Fukuzawa. Mori saw men not as equal but as tools. Everything was rationalized, even evil. Necessary evil corrupted the once innocent soul of the raven with magenta eyes. Fukuzawa could not help but wonder what has led him to being the cruel person he was now. It was a pressure of stopping him. Stopping Mori and his cruelty to ensure happiness for everyone. Stopping Mori before he could destroy himself for the sake of being a good tool for his organization.

At the same time it feel reassuring to have someone to stop you. Someone on the same level. All Soukoku generations were a blessing and a curse. A balance that was bound to be preserved. If one part was lost, the other one can never be whole again. The thought of repairing was an ignorant bliss. How could a star shine as bright as it can if there was no one to destroy it? To keep it from destroying everything that was dear to it?

The mafia boss stopped at a small convenience store. After some time he got back with a few bags filled with vegetables and alcohol. Fukuzawa only raised an eyebrow. A man of few words indeed.

"It's more healthy cooking by yourself. I thought you would like some sake as well? After all you are a little fanatic when it's about Japanese tradition", the rationalist chuckled. It was unusual seeing the older male in a suit and not in a Yukata. It – well – suited him. The trouble trio of the agency did a great job trying to convince him into wearing it. Really. Just a small rational thought of Mori. Of course. Nothing else.

"What were you doing so long?"

"I've chatted with the clerk a bit. He had a few problems concerning his volleyball team", Mori said while pushing some lose strands of his hair back to where they belong. Long hair could get quite annoying, huh?

"I guess the opponent will then struggle", Fukuzawa stated bluntly. A confused face on Moris face was then exchanged with laughter. He had a weird laughter, the one suiting a mafia boss. Still the dark raspy tone in it, the real tears of amusement made Fukuzawa think it was cute for a moment.

Though after a second he came back to his senses. The laugh of a maniac, the mafia boss, and on top of it all of MORI could never be cute. He must have had a picture of a cat in his mind. That must be it.

After arriving and eating both of them stayed silence for a second.

"Too bad I couldn't eat anything at the banquet. The staff must have put much effort in it", Fukuzawa sighed. He felt sad for all the left over sweets that were ignored by all the women since society would accuse them for being "pigs" when they ate some. He felt sick of people judging from outer appearance making one feel the need to change their eating behavior. After all, all (wo)men are equal for Fukuzawa. Every human being had a core, their soul. The body was just an appearance, a shell. The real pearl could be found inside the shell. Why should you judge a shell when you can enjoy the real beauty of the pearl?

"Well the food is the best thing about these banquets after all", the rationalist interrupted his thoughts. He was dumbfounded. He would have never guessed that Mori would voice his opinion so loudly, without cunningly deceiving the other. "What? You hate it too so we are partners in crime now", a smile spread across the ravens face.

"My little Elise-chan hates it too~ That's why I never take her with me... But without someone to talk and make remarks with it's just sooooo boring~", the rationalist stretched out while being met with silence. A man of few words.

"You have to go to these events too, right Fukuzawa-dono? Let's go together then! I can be very entertaining. You will learn all about the little secrets of high society. Who sleeps with whom and who fails his business~", the raven wasn't even sure why he proposed this. Probably because he felt bored and had to keep his mind from the annoying talking of ignorant fools who were born with a silver spoon. Who didn't care about anything but their nails. Not even shedding a glance at others crying in agony.

Mori did look at them. He acknowledged their pain. Acknowledged their life that would meet it's end with the his own hands. Ignoring and underestimating others was ignorance and simply foolish. Also he was mostly annoyed how they ignored those cute little orphans. Those fallen angels with no place to life. At least he could admire these pure beings, while not touching and tainting them. He would gladly end anyone who touched one in the wrong way. End in means of ending someone psychologically.

"Fine", the grey haired man took a sip of his tea. Mori was confused at first. Fine? Why fine? Well Fukuzawa was hella fine- scratch that only in a rational perception of course, but... then he got it. Well seems like they once again formed an alliance.

Mori poured both of them a glass of sake, raising his own: "To the alliance against tedious high society talk nobody wants to hear!"

Fukuzawa raised his glass as well: "To finally reaching the food that has been laid out there since it is a waste to just dispose of it all!"

"Well said, my fiend. I have to admit you are less detestable than I thought".

"Likewise".

The night continued this way. They laughed. They talked. They discussed. It was not to be called normal, they could not simply ignore their differences. But it was enjoyable. For both of them.

After all being a company boss was tiring. It was also lonely. Pushing your own desires away for the sake of the company, for the sake of others. Exceeding yourself and trying to change your life for them. It was terribly exhausting. But sometimes these moments, sharing time with another could change it. Sharing time with someone who understood.
