It was absolute to say that the current situation was absolutely horrible and something you would not want to describe. Really something you would want to avoid by any means possible. It wasn't something "serious" though as Kunikida would say.

A bomb. Abusing a child. Murder. All these scenarios were horrible. There was no doubt about it. And the agency tried to stop all these scenarios. Still they could not banish all sadness from the world. Still they could not stop the ever lingering inequality in society. Still they could not stop the sadness of another person. They could stop a bomb, stop a weird fog surrounding the city and trying to kill all ability users. They could stop a rat invasion and the "plague" or more correct the misfortune they brought with them. Everything like this was stoppable with a good will, information and some physical and materialistic help.

However, they could not erase the sadness in the abused child. They could not turn back time. Could not stop the sadness of betrayal, the sadness of someone. The world would become a better place with the agency but there would always be unhappiness. Not only through evil.

A great source of unhappiness, of wariness and depression was love. Yes, love. Love as the one thing always portrayed as a beautiful and kind feeling. Your heart racing when seeing the one person. The feeling of butterflies in your stomach. The never ending smiling when you see them happy.

But love was cruel as well. Your heart racing could turn into a never ending cycle never letting you rest. The butterflies that would start to choke you, not letting air into your lungs as you tried to stop the never ending pain. The smile you had when they smiled but that was fake. It was fake. Fake. It could not be real. Your heart has stopped. Completely. It was as if nothing could bring it in it's original pace. The smile, the happiness you still have for them turning into a torture as you see them smiling at someone else. While rejecting you. Love had two sides. A fluffy feeling one that seemed like some fluffy tiger without claws and some cotton candy. A dark feeling of fear and rejection, choking you and leaving you and your self in a mess that had to be taken care of again.

The brunette was sobbing loudly once again. Oh how often had he confessed up till now? How often did he get rejected? He did not count it. He was used to it. No one would like the shut in, the Neet that couldn't even do basic human interaction. Stuttering and secluding himself in the darkness to stop his heart from longing for warmth. Searching for internet videos to laugh for the first time in weeks after the rejection. It was always the same. Like a cycle. Never ending. Never meant to be broken.

Everyone would reject a stranger, that was absolutely normal. Especially when they looked like a shut in while confessing. A person you never knew, never saw. Someone that existence was like a shadow, never to be seen. No flashy superhero, no outstanding hair, nothing special. Just a small figure in the game of chess from humanity.

Katai knew that. Obviously. He wasn't dumb. He might lack some sleep here and there but that was normal, right? What's 4 hours of sleep a day? He had less sometimes but he just had to clear this event...

Love was beautiful and cruel. The best way to stop from being rejected was finding a new love. Avoiding the topic. If you love someone else you won't be rejected by the person you love the most. A sad logic. You use the other person as a way to escape your own reality. It was cruel and absolutely disgusting. Katai knew that. But humans are cruel beings. Humans don't discriminate, between the sinners and the saints, they take and take and take. It was not ideal for his friend, but Kunikida didn't knew about it. Loving another person since you have found your soulmate? Why would you do that?

The brunette sobbed even louder now. It had been a few years since he had become aware of this dark side of his. Why reject your biggest love? Why reject when you always confessed?
