He stood up and yawned. A morning just like any other one. He checked the calendar for special meetings or occasions.

Two. Two moments that passed forever.

Fukuzawa nodded. Nothing special to be found. Seemed like he had another regular day at the agency waiting for him. Not to mention all the paperwork he still had to finish after their last big one.

The tall man sighed. Paperwork was never his favorite thing to do. It was so complex at a ridiculous rate that he could only shake his head. Why else would you create such a confusing tax system? And don't even get started on all the other costs and paperwork... Not that his bunch of exotic workers weren't enough trouble...

Still Fukuzawa loved his job with every moment. He felt content within minutes even if he always entered the room when someone was bickering – or just grunting about the early office hours.

"Good morning boss!", Kunikida greeted his superior and stood up to bow. Next to the diligent man were already three finished STAPEL of paperwork. Fukuzawa felt just as amused as he was terrified by this productivity. With a small bow he silently answered and went into his office.

The next two hours were the quietest. Ranpo and Dazai were still nowhere to be seen and only pen scratching on paper could be heard in the office. There was no clock nor any other distraction. Fukuzawa liked to work in the silence. His office seemed like a lonely cocoon at those times.

Two. Two terrible terrible screams.

There were still two forms to fill out. After that Fukuzawa decided to go for a small break. A nice green tea seemed to be just the – how would Kunikida say it? – ideal way to get some rest. He really hoped Dazai hadn't done anything... horrible with it. Because if that was the case then there would be bloodshed.

After the two last forms were filled out and neatly placed onto the STAPEL Fukuzawa stood up. He took all that he had finished today and brought it to a smaller desk. It was an organized system Kunikida had created for an ideal productivity within the agency. Oh, how luck he was, to have such a wonderful employee...

"Good morning boss!", Atsushi said with a cheery voice as the grim looking man exited his office. He was met with no answer but continued nonetheless: "Are you getting some tea again?".

Kunikida could only look in awe at the small boy's confidence – or was it stupidity? At least for Kunikida it was difficult to tell what his boss was thinking. And he feared for the consequences of angering him though he knew that Fukuzawa had a heart made of gold.

Fukuzawa only nodded and slightly patted Atsushi's head. He also gave a nod to Kunikida and disappeared without a sound into the kitchen.

"Well with that kinda face you would more guess that he wasn't really a morning person, huh?", Dazai hummed while spinning on his chair.

"DAZAI!", Kunikida looked at the brunette with a glare.

"Nah man or at least he doesn't show it. You don't know how many times I tried to annoy him in the morning. I once hid all his tea just to get a reaction but he simply shrugged and bought one in a store", Ranpo chuckled while trying to match Dazai's spinning pace.

"That's not nice of you Ranpo", Kunikida sighed. "And there's also the fact that the boss has – could you both please stop spinning? WHO DO YOU THINK HAS TO TAKE CARE OF IT IF YOU VOMIN ON THE GROUND?!"

"Boo Kunikida is so boring", Dazai frowned and stopped.

"Booo!", Ranpo joined in.

"That the boss has what?", Atsushi looked at the three of them with interest in his eyes. Something understandable from a newcomer. After all the boss wasn't someone to share much personal data with anyone...

"Why you asking so stupidly? A heart of gold of course! Ever see him rescuing and feeding lost kittens on the streets?!", Ranpo sneered.

"Well, he did pick you up from the streets, Ranpo, so of course he has to have one", Kunikida muttered under his breath. He was still impressed that the boss hadn't taken Ranpo's life yet...

"Don't you have better things to do than to discuss my intestines?" a dark voice said behind them.

With that two of the four men turned towards their paperwork again hoping not to get scolded again. Ranpo and Dazai were starting to build some paper planes. So, the usual productivity had once again returned.

Fukuzawa sighed as he put his tea on his table. He nodded to himself slightly as to confirm that he was going to finish the rest of the paperwork today. It was a slow process but as time went by, he started to pick up his pace.

One by one his employees started to say their goodbyes and went out for the day. First Ranpo. Then Dazai. And then more and more. Until it was completely silent within the building. Fukuzawa stopped only to hear the wind whistle slightly.

He stretched a bit and got up. It was time for him to go as well. He shouldn't overexert himself after all. There was still a tomorrow, another time where he could finish this all. He looked at the last bit of tea that had gone cold in his mug and drank it. There would never be a day when he would waste even a droplet of tea.

Fukuzawa straightened his Yukata and turned the key. He went down the street with a fast pace and looked at the sky and the trees on the side of the road. There were small leaflets falling. They were so frail and dried up that Fukuzawa wouldn't even dare to catch one.

Two. Two bodies soaked in blood.

His gaze fell onto a cat that was laying there one the pavement. It was taking in the last of the evening sun and enjoyed the offerings it was given. Fukuzawa stopped for a moment to look at the frail creature.

The cats hair was short and it had all it's limbs intact. It looked at him with curious eyes not even flinching away. Had it too seen a heart of gold in Fukuzawa's chest, that everyone was talking about?

Two. Two men that had felt his sharp Katana that day.

A heart made of gold was a heavy burden, Fukuzawa thought. He felt that thing aching in his chest. It wouldn't work how it used to. It would probably never let him go.

With a small twist the tired man opened the door to his home and two purple eyes were looking at him from the hallway.

"Ah! Good morning. I was just on my way to work", Mori smiled. It was his fake smile. A smile that was bearing false promises and that acted more as a mask than anything else. Fukuzawa never understood the point of such a smile. Wasn't it better then to show no emotions at all, if you would hide them anyway?

"You seem a little grumpy. Is something the matter?", Mori said while raising an eyebrow.

Fukuzawa shook his head. How should he explain this feeling of his to someone who had pierced his own heart years ago? How should he explain that he felt it itching and aching where everyone was talking about his perfect heart. About the gold in his chest. About how perfect the agency boss was?

Because they dipped his heart in gold so they didn't have to see it's rotten core. Didn't have to see that there was no one perfect in this world and that he two had killed every day. Fukuzawa was a monster as well but one they had painted to be a hero.

Mori shrugged. "Doesn't matter, I guess. I put on some classical music in the living room, turn it off if you don't like it". And with a small peck the other man already disappeared into the dawn.

Fukuzawa looked after the man that he condemned so much. The man who had not changed anything and found pleasure in killing. The man who had looked at his war broken heart and decided to shatter it in its entirety. The man who had killed hundreds and thousands each day and wore a smile only as a mask and never somewhere else.
