Fukuzawa was a man of a few words. Not only words also emotions. Fukzawa was a man of few expressions you could say. It was had to guess every mood of his right.

It was also hard to make him smile. Nobody would even dare to think they could even make him laugh once they met him. It seemed to be impossible to disturb that poker face.

The first one to give up was Mori. Mori as a rationalist saw the impossible and simply spared his energy. He would never smile. Even at their wedding. Mori on the other hand was beaming. Whether it was about him getting married to his kind of rivalry love or because Elise looked absolutely adorable as the little flower girls was still unknown. Kōyō picked the flowers. They were all blooming in the dark of course.

The next person to kind of give up was Kunikida. Yes Kunikida also gave it a try. After all smiling and laughing was ideal. It was both healthy for mind and body. Ah truly magnificent what a smile could change. So Kunikida tried to make everyone at least a bit smile when he didn't scold them.

With Kunikidas dropout of the race Katai also gave up. He never really got into either he just sometimes send him cute cat videos. However the agency chef always covered his camera so it was an unsolved mystery whether he smiled at them...

Atsushi never gave up. He was just a genuine bean beaming with happiness and stupid cat energy. So he never gave up because he didn't even noticed he tried. Ranpo sometimes said it would be nice if he could give some energy of this giant sun to Akutagawa since he didn't even had the energy to listen to their rambling thus not participating.

"You know the sun is a giant fireball?", the detective once threw the fact into the room. Atsushi was shocked and the others nonchalant.

"Yeah everyone who wasn't secluded too much knows", the doctor said her feet on the small table that made Kunikida scold her.

"And Atsushi is like the sun, right?", Ranpo added and all nodded in agreement. "Never want to see what happens when this giant sweet bean energy burns out or is killed off, not gonna lie", Ranpo said without looking up. Horrified faces and long nightmares were the result of this discussion.

But looking back at the race of making a certain chef smile:

Yosano and with her Kōyō were the next ones to drop out. Kōyō was not really for smiling and stuff but what could she do if her adorable little girlfriend asked her? Yosano kept on since the gang once saw it as a reasonable goal. Even Dazai once laid down his suicide attempts saying that it might be his "purpose" to make "the impossible exist".

Ranpo – who had started this game and was in it the longest – gave up next. He had used all his secret strategies. Used every chance. Used any situation. Used every joke. There was just no way to make the grey haired man smile

And the last one to drop out was Dazai. Even though he just joked around with giving up suicide he really took the most ridiculous effort of them all. Manipulating scenes and cases, creating special shows for adorable cats on TV and other stuff all were on his agenda.

He was weaving his little web trying to catch a bird. It was just impossible. Even after intervening everyone, using all his connection and charisma it was still impossible. You could say it was even more difficult than catching and bringing down the rat and his clown boyfriend.

Mori could only smile at the thought of all the failed attempts. Even he got convinced to try it just one more time only to be disappointed.

The mafia boss was laying on the couch of his and Fukuzawas shared house. They both were busy so both of them were rarely there at the same time.
