Do you believe in a devil? As in a being regardless of religion that will punish all those who committed evil? Someone who will judge what is justice with a different perception?

Or could it be that life on earth was a hell we went through? Some had a better life and some had it worse. Yet it seemed so ridiculous for some people to see living as wonderful. For example Koyo. She always saw the downsides. She felt trapped and betrayed for obvious reasons. Koyo had lost all faith in life itself. And so did most of the Mafia members. Even their boss.

Yet there were a few weird exceptions. Like Higuchi who just loved life because she was alive in the same period as the Akutagawa siblings. Though this is not about her. This is about a small certain someone. Someone who should in theory hate the world and everything.

Said one was Chuuya, Chuuya Nakahara. The man who lived his life to the fullest. He felt so content about the little things it was actually enlightening. Like how he smiled when he petted a dog just after getting a lecture from Koyo. Or how he was excited about every film even though the trope was quite mainstream. Or when he treated everyone equally despite their different social rankings not even caring if said one could kill him with a snap of their finger.

It was truly magnificent how he could still hold his head high up and smile. Smile after not knowing who he had been, having no memory of his past and no family. Smile after being betrayed by the ones who made him lose trust in the world he hasn't even seen yet. Smile after being forced to kill and not even stopping after changing organizations. Smile after he had been left alone once again by a certain brunette. Oh yeah and smile after being trapped in a book about murder for months like not even a book you like or you're a fan of... Not that Chuuya was the one to read very much anyway.

Even now Chuuya wouldn't show even the slightest hint of his real emotions. Before he had shouted to show his anger and disgust. He hid his pain and his suffering. So that he at least wouldn't allow them this victory.

The man in front of him grabbed his hair and yanked his head back. Chuuya didn't even scream in anger now. He only glared at the man who held him captive right now. He could all the pain easily. He had been almost killed both emotionally and physically by sheep. There was no reason to scream at a few punches. Especially when you were used to Koyo's punches while training...

"I SAID WHERE IS IT!", the man screamed at him again. Spit was flying out of his mouth. Disgusting. Chuuya didn't answer. He did before saying that he didn't know but even after fifty repeating exchanges of the same question and answer they never really believed him anyway.

This was all about some not really important bag they were searching for. Apparently, it was taken by the police and they were obsessed with getting it back. So why did they kidnap a mafia executive when they wanted to have information from the police?

Well, the thing was Chuuya had been drinking with Ango from time to time. Chuuya had never really met Ango in the mafia. They only exchanged a few words. Yet he was surprisingly easy to talk with. And a nice change when you needed someone to drink with. Plus Ango was also very annoyed with Dazai so this was another plus-point.

All in all the kidnapper square brains did the math and they thought that Chuuya must be the secret agent that took their stuff. Was it weed or some other illegal thing? How ironic would it be if they bought it from the mafia...

"STILL NOT TALKING, HEH?!", spit was flying on Chuuya's face again. That was the most disgusting situation ever. Chuuya just wanted to rip the shitty rope apart and aim his fist at the stupid face in front of him and-

A small cry made Chuuya only clench his fist as the man started to beat him up once again. The punches weren't really hard but with no way to block them and an unlimited supply even Chuuya felt like shit real fast. The only reason such a weak bunch could do that was that they absolute assholes. No, really they had no morals. Even the mafia would leave all the children alone even if they became orphans.
