I enjoy the game very much. Whenever I'm bored and don't want or can't play on the PS4, I play Fallout 4.

But I have an issue with it.

You can't be evil.

Let me explain.

In previous games, you could blow up a town and kill hundreds, kill everyone in your vault, turn against your own friends and family. Roleplaying as a villain was fun.

In F4, on the other hand, you really can't.

For example:
Want to instead destroy the last of the Minutemen, help the raiders?

Too bad. Raiders don't give you a chance, you kill them all, then you can't even turn Preston down properly. You can leave, yes, but the mission telling you to Talk To Preston is still there. Unless you're fine with it sitting there, you HAVE to allow him to go to Sanctuary, or get a mod to kill him and the others.

Want to keep Drinkin Buddy for yourself?

You can, but the mission will still be there, telling you to do the good thing and return him to Hotel Rexford.

There are things here and there, like letting a kid die to give yourself the medicine he needs, or sell the child ghoul to a slaver.
But it doesn't leave an impact. No one turns hostile on you or anything, other than whatever faction you go against in the main mission.

Even if you do side with, say, the Institute, not much comes after it. You're not given missions to bring back people to change. You can't help make the old Railroad hideout a new Institute hidden base. You're supposed to be the leader now, but what can you actually do in-game with it?

I hope that if and when there's a new Fallout game, they don't shy away from going dark. I haven't played any New Vegas, but from the videos I've seen, it can be messed up, you can actually choose to be a villain, a hero, or a bit of both. There's a reason that game is so loved, and i HOPE the next game doesn't shy away from actually being dark and allowing you to roleplay the way you want.
