Tuesday:

"Baby... we need to go see your mother. She's been in the hospital for a few days now."

Mitch was laying on top of Scott, Scott laying on the couch, "No." Mitch answered with no hesitation.

Scott sighed, "Mitch.."

Mitch shook his head slightly, "No, I can't. I was sad enough just hearing about it. I can't see her like that."

"I bet she misses you, honey."

"She basically gave me away and disowned me. I don't need to see her."

"But you want to."

Mitch sighed and snuggled his head into the crook of Scott's neck.

"mein schatz."

Mitch sniffled a little, "Don't, please don't. I don't want to see her. that's final."

Scott nodded a little, "Okay, what do you want to do then."

"Can we go downtown and watch fireworks?"

"But we can see them from our house." Scott replied.

"No we can't."

"You're right, I just don't wanna go downtown, around people, in sticky, humid weather."

"Scottie, please."

"Fuck, honey, you know I'd do anything for you but I really don't want to go out into that weather and-"

Mitch pushed himself up a little to look at Scott's face, tears still in his eyes, "Scottie, please."

Scott sighed, "Mitchie-"

"Please."

"Honey, why don't we just stay home and watch them on the TV?"

More tears filled his eyes, "P-please."

"Baby, I love you so damn much but I don't think it's safe to be out really late-"

"But I'm s-sad."

"It's unsafe ba-"

"P-please."

"I don't want you hur-"

"But I'm s-s-sad." Mitch said, Falling forward onto Scott's chest, tears flowing down his cheeks and onto Scott's blue shirt.

Scott immediately wrapped his arms around him, "Shh, okay, baby, okay. We'll go downtown and watch fireworks, okay?"

Mitch weakly nodded against Scott's chest letting out another pathetic sob.

"Don't cry baby, I've got you, don't be sad, I've got you."

At the time, Scott didn't know Mitch didn't want to stay in because that's the tradition he had with his parents.

"Are you ready, honey?" Scott said, turning around to see Mitch sanding in front of a mirror, smoothing down the red silk dress.

Mitch nodded, biting his lip, "Yeah, I think I'm good."

"Good?" Scott said, walking up to Mitch and wrapping his arms around Mitch's mid-section, "You look so breathtaking, babygirl."
