So, this Sunday (if Wattpad works with me) is the last upload because, for the next 3 weeks, I have End of Years to prepare for. Yaaaaayyyy... ;-;

This means I'll be going on a 3 week hiatus but, fret not, I will return with a new story on Monday hehe.

Anyways, this was inspired by AO3 hehe.

[No one's POV]

Izuku urges himself to run faster, his naked heels barely grazing the gravel he was running along. He didn't even try to put his shoes on earlier, nor his socks. All that he knew was that he was late.

He was in a little bit of a tangle, earlier. His mother was being a little sceptical with Izuku's constant disappearances and so, after he had once again stumbled over an excuse to leave the house, she decided to keep him behind for a bit, saying that she'd had enough of seeing him going out until dark and that he wasn't allowed out that day. Only when Izuku had so desperately begged had she let him go, but something told him that he wasn't yet let off the hook.

It's a little hard, having a relationship with a mermaid. Especially when no one else has seen a mermaid in their life. Izuku wouldn't want anyone to lay eyes on a... thing as... breath-taking as Katsuki.

Fate was what brought the two together in the first place.

Izuku was spending his time wandering along the shore. It was when he approached a cove that he saw Katsuki hissing out, tangled amidst one of those cursed disposable fishing nets, the water creeping away from him. The fangs on his teeth were almost silver daggers, gnawing desperately at the rope as he furiously thrashes his tail around. His beautiful, gorgeous, sunset-orange scales, glittering in the setting sun. Some would mistake the sounds and grunts from his mouth as ones of an animal.

It took some time for Katsuki to have settled down when Izuku had attempted to disentangle him from the net. It was only natural for Katsuki to have reacted that way, especially when a lot of his kind had been slaughtered by man. However, once he'd been freed, he couldn't help but be indebted to this human. And, after seeing his viridescent green eyes and small, pressed lips of concern, he couldn't help but want to know the human a little more.

He did end their first encounter, however, by slipping back into the water.

It started subtle. He'd watch Izuku walk by every now and then. Izuku, on the other hand, was always trying to look for him, scanning across the vast ocean and always finishing at the first place they'd met. He always ended up empty-handed.

When he was out searching for the last time, already having lost hope, Katsuki had finally made his appearance, perches on the edge of the beach with his tail flickering in the surface of the water. Izuku had held his breath, and was sure to approach the merman slowly, but was splashed with as spray of water from the tail fluttering in the water. It was almost comical to hear him squeal as the cold droplets roll against his skin and drenches his shirt.

Katsuki had to laugh at his reaction.

It was fortunate that Katsuki could speak Japanese, so the two could communicate properly. However, it was slightly chopped-up, and Izuku did laugh at any mispronounced words he'd made.

They had agreed to meet up at roughly 5pm, or just before the sun was about to set. As said before, their relationship was... dangerous. If anyone knew that Katsuki was hanging out with a human, he was sure to be forbidden from going to the surface. Luckily, it was easy for him to make it to the meetings, since his lies were quite smooth. But, even a few minutes past dark, his parents would start to grow suspicious.
