Sophie's POV
"Ice skating?" I parroted, looking up at Scott in disbelief.
"Yeah. It'll be the perfect distraction and plus, we haven't gone on a date in a while."
"Just us?" I sat up, setting my books aside.
"Well-"
"Stiles and Erica are coming too, aren't they?"
"And Isaac."
I let out a small laugh, shaking my head. "When is it?"
"Tonight. At ten. We'll pick you up."
"But the ice rink closes at nine."
"Just trust me."
I gave him a weird look as he leaned down to give me a kiss goodbye. I watched him leave, still confused but willing to just go with it.
I continued studying, ending up taking a nap before my mom woke me up for dinner.
"Goodnight!" we called to each other as we went into our rooms.
I checked the clock, seeing I only had an hour to get ready. I took a long shower, taking my time as I brushed my hair out afterwards.
Soon enough, Scott was texting me to say he was outside. I jogged downstairs, opening and closing the door as quietly as I could. I smiled as I saw Scott standing by Stiles's Jeep.
I gave him a quick kiss before getting into the backseat. Scott got in next to me, Erica taking the front seat.
"So is anyone going to explain why we're going to an ice rink that's closed?" I questioned, feeling Scott's hand slip into mine.
"Well, it's a long story." Stiles muttered, holding up a set of keys.
"Do I want to know?"
"Probably not."
"Alright then."
Stiles drove us to the ice rink as we all chatted lightly, all of us excited to get to the rink. Once we pulled up, we all got out, Isaac walking over to join us.
"Um, you guys know Laila." He gestured to her as she waved her gloved hand, smiling.
"Definitely." Erica muttered, making Stiles snicker.
Isaac gave her a warning look as Stiles cleared his throat to cover the laugh, pulling the keys out.
He unlocked the doors, Scott opening one of them for me. We walked over to look into the rink, smiling at each other in excitement.
"Have you ever been ice skating before?" I asked as we sat down to put on our skates.
"No. I've watched other people though."
I laughed before pulling on one of the skates, moving my hands to tie them. I paused as I noticed my fingers trembling, even though I wasn't cold. I went to grab the strings, fumbling with them as my hands continued shaking.
I saw Scott's hands grab mine as I sighed, straightening up.
"Let me help." He picked up my foot, placing it in his lap and tying the laces for me.
I smiled at him as he held his hand out for the other. I then waited for him to tie his skates before he helped me up.
"Do you want any tips?" I offered as we walked over to the gate of the rink, opening it up before looking out onto the ice.
"Soph, I'm a werewolf. Heightened senses, quick reflexes." he reminded me, his voice quiet since Laila was only a few feet away.
"Oh right. Sorry." I watched him with an amused smile as he stepped onto the ice, a confident smirk on his face.
"See? This is ea-" he cut off as he attempted to move forward, immediately falling to the ground.
I laughed as I moved onto the ice, gently skating over to stand by his head. "Need some help?"
Laila's POV
"I haven't been skating since I was five so I might be a bit rusty." Isaac explained as we awkwardly walked to the rink, unbalanced on our skates.
"I actually went a few months ago, with Luke, Mary and Lydia."
We both stepped onto the ice, gripping onto the wall for balance. His hand bumped into mine as he moved forward carefully.
"Oh this isn't too bad." he muttered, smiling to himself. He let go of the wall as I watched with a smile.
He then slipped, quickly grabbing for the wall again. He bumped into me, catching me before I could fall.
I looked up into his eyes, letting out a laugh. "You ok?"
"Just fine actually."
I smiled, quickly moving my hand to cover his before I could think about it. He returned the grin, sliding his fingers through mine as he slowly pushed away from the wall.
I moved with him, keeping my hand in his to help him balance on his shaking legs. "It's ok. You're doing really good. Now just move your foot forward."
He grabbed my other hand, using both of them for support as he skated forward.
"That's it! You're doing it!" I felt my smile grow as I loosened my tight grip on his fingers.
He let go of my hands, keeping his held out as he struggled to find his balance. He managed to skate for a few seconds before falling once again, this time landing on the ice. I struggled to keep myself from laughing as he chuckled at himself.
"Well you almost have it."
