Laila's POV

"I really missed hanging out with you." I admitted as we walked out of the ice cream shop.

"I did too. You always seem to be with Lahey now."

"There aren't any hard feelings about that, are there?" I asked, glancing over at him.

"Not really. I just want us to stay friends. Of course, I would've liked us to be more but you made your preference pretty clear by breaking up with me and then moving onto another guy by the next day."

"Alright. I deserved that." I nodded, pulling him to a stop, making him face me. "I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. I just-"

"I know. You've liked him for a long time. I knew that when I asked you out, I was just hoping you would change your mind."

"I really am sorry, Aiden."

"Don't be. I understand."

"And I just wanted to say that I didn't replace you with him, or the other way around."

"Is he a good boyfriend?"

"He's amazing. But I'd understand if you don't want to talk about him."

"As long as he makes you happy."

"He really does."

Isaac's POV

"Thanks for coming. I'm sorry it's such short notice." Mary apologized, opening the door for me with one hand while trying to put in her earring with the other. "I would ask Laila but she's out and I don't know when she'll back. And I tried to hire a sitter but Luke asked for you."

"It's fine. I don't mind."

"Try to get him to bed before nine, if you can. Dinner's in the fridge, although I'm sure if you wanted something else, Laila will make it when she gets home. And all emergency numbers are on the counter." she listed, turning to check her reflection. "Thank you so much for this, Isaac. Luke, come say goodbye!"

Luke came out of his room, jogging down the stairs and hugging her legs. "Goodbye!"

"Your sister should be home soon. Isaac's going to take care of you until then, ok? So be good and call me if you need anything." She leaned down to kiss his head, grabbing her purse and a jacket. "I'll be back by ten. Bye!" She quickly ran out the door as I turned to Luke with a smile.

"Superman?" he asked, holding up his arms.

I laughed to myself before picking him up and beginning to run all around the room, both of us making wind noises as he pretended to fly.

"You can't tell your sister or Mary that I'm letting you do this." I warned as he took another bite of candy.

He nodded his head eagerly as I heard what sounded like a motorcycle engine. The sound was followed by Laila's voice, along with her footsteps. She called a goodbye to Aiden as she opened the door.

We quickly hid the many bags of candy, Luke giggling as I shushed him.

"Luke?" Laila called, coming into the living room. "Oh. Hey Isaac. I didn't know you were coming over."

"Mary asked me to babysit. We've been hanging out, right Luke?"

He snickered, standing up to run over to her. "It was fun!"

"What have you two been up to?" she questioned, taking off her jacket.

"Not much." I answered for him as he grinned, moving to sit down next to me again.
