He understands that this wasn't actually the best solution to his darling moving away but what else could he have done? He couldn't just let them leave him.
So, he simply brought them to a place where they couldn't leave them. Of course, once they wake up, they were not the happiest about their new home but he knew they would get used to it at some point.
Time did pass and although he made sure they had everything they could ever want or need they would still give them that look, it was a look of anger, hatred, sadness and fear. More than anything he wanted to change those emotions but for now all he could do was wait for time to change their mind more than anything else.
