I know many people aren't reading anymore. But for those few of you that are, I am going to continue to write. Hope you enjoy this latest offering 😋

Arthur made his way down the street, checking his watch for the hundredth time since he had turned the corner. He knew that he wasn't late, but still he wanted to make sure. (Y/n) had told him to be at the store at seven. That dinner would be ready for seven thirty. That she was looking forward to being able to cook for someone again. And given that, Arthur wanted to make double.....no, triply sure that he wasn't going to be a minute late. Not even a second.

He hadn't been able to stop thinking about (Y/n) since they had met. But when Hoyt had come and complimented him for a job that he hadn't done. When Gary said that it could all be down to (Y/n), he definitely couldn't help but think about her. Couldn't help but wonder why she would do something like that for him. For someone that she didn't really know. Though given how she had already rescued him once, he sort of figured that he shouldn't be surprised. It was more that he just wasn't used to things like that. Wasn't used to people coming to his aid. Defending him. Helping him. And especially not beautiful, smart and kind women, doing that for him. Arthur not sure whether he should ask her about it some time in the evening. Whether he should ask her if she was behind the compliment that he had got from his employer. But the last thing that he wanted to do, was spoil the evening by asking questions that might make (Y/n) feel uncomfortable. To ruin what he hoped could be a wonderful time. To mar what he had found himself praying, could be the start of something special. The clown sure that even a simple friendship with (Y/n) was better than anything that he currently had. Or perhaps he ever would have. Arthur doing his best to not wish for too much. Yet in the back of his mind, he had thought about something more serious. That a friendship could turn into something more. That sometime in the future, (Y/n) might always be cooking for him. That a cold, lonely apartment could become a warm and loving home. But first, he had to make sure that tonight went well. That he didn't spoil anything. Didn't make a fool of himself or scare (Y/n) away by breaking out into a laugh.

Finally, he found himself outside the front of (Y/n)'s store. Arthur licking the palm of his hand, and then brushing it through his hair. Doing his best to catch any stray stands and tease them back into place. He couldn't help but feel the butterflies in his stomach as he stared at his reflection in the store window. He looked like the goofy kid that had somehow managed to get the most wonderful girl in school, to go on a date with him. His eyes focusing on the magic wand in his hand. Not sure whether he had made to right choice in gifts. The right way of saying thank you. He had actually wanted to buy her the biggest bouquet that he could afford. But as usual, money was tight. His mind wandering to other possibilities. A smile suddenly spreading across his lips as he had a genius idea. His magic wand. (Y/n)'s store was called "A little bit of magic", so why not give her a little bit of magic. That, and the fact that he could make a bunch of flowers arrear out of the end of it, was like killing two birds with one stone. Or was it? He wasn't all that sure now. He wasn't all that sure that his "genius" idea, was that clever at all. Not as he looked at himself standing there holding a black magicians wand in his hand. Not as he thought..................

"Arthur." A cheery voice came. Arthur shaken from his thoughts. Turning to see (Y/n) stood in the doorway. The clown not sure whether he had knocked without knowing. Or whether (Y/n) did in fact have a little magic to her.

"Seven o'clock on the dot. I do like punctuality. My, don't you look different to the last time I saw you? A little part of me wasn't sure what I would see when you didn't have any makeup at all on." (Y/n) continued happily, as she took his hand, and pulled him inside. The two making their way to the living area behind the shop front.

"Oh, sorry. I hope that I haven't disappointed..................."

"Sorry? Disappointed? What? Who said anything about being disappointed? I actually think that you brush up quiet well Mister Fleck." (Y/n) interrupted, as she helped him off with his jacket. Not allowing Arthur to think for one moment that she didn't like what she was seeing.

"What's that?" She continued, as she saw Arthur try and hide something. The clown beginning to blush as he hesitantly revealed his thank you gift.

"Well.........I, I wanted to get you something to say thank you. Thank you for what you did. I..........I actually wanted to get you a big spray of flowers, but.........but then I thought I had a great idea. I thought I would give you a little magic." Arthur tried to explain. Moving his hands dramatically and making the bunch of flowers pop out of the end of the wand. The still blushing man looking up at the sound of (Y/n)'s happy giggle.

"Oh, Arthur. Its wonderful. I love it. Thank you." (Y/n) laughed, as a now much cheerier Arthur handed her the wand. (Y/n) leaning over and giving him a quick kiss to the cheek.

"To be honest. I am terrible with real flowers. No matter what I do, they die on me, instantly. Where some people have green fingers, I am the complete opposite. So, these are perfect. I can keep these forever." (Y/n) explained, as she made her way over to one of the bookshelves and placed her gift on display.

"Now, come through to the kitchen. Dinner will be ready on time. And eat only what you want. I know that I have made too much. And I have a desert too. So, please don't feel obliged to eat everything. You will be the size of a house if you do." (Y/n) added, as she once again took Arthur by the hand and led the way. His senses filling with all the wonderful smells, as she pulled out a chair for him to sit on and then returned to the stove that was covered in bubbling pots.

"So, tell me about your day. Were you at a party? Or maybe at the hospital? Whatever it was, I am sure that it was much more interesting than what happened around here." (Y/n) laughed, as she turned her attention back to him. Arthur trying to remember if anyone had ever asked him to tell them about his day before. Had ever really been interested in listening to him at all. But as (Y/n) turned and smiled at him. Arthur found that he couldn't help but do as she had asked. His usual nerves and anxiety leaving him, as his host took a seat across from him, and listened intently.
