The last few months had proved more than difficult for (Y/n); with the help of Michael, she had been able to see Arthur on a regular basis, but the press had somehow found out about her visits to the infamous criminal, and had made it their business to seemingly name and shame the woman that would want anything to do with Joker.

The small apartment that she had been able to rent was bombarded by the press and photographers, all wanting the scoop on the clowns girlfriend, and her face had been plastered all over the front of the papers, images of her leaving Arkham had been shown on the local news, and even Gabe and Candy from back in LA had been contacted by the press in hopes of getting more information on the woman that was the only one, other than the authorities, allowed to see the killer clown.

Arthur looked at a copy of the paper, his eyes staring at the long range photos of (Y/n) as she left the hospital after one of their visits. He couldn't help but be angered by what they were saying, if they only knew how he had improved since she had come back into his life, if only they could appreciate what kind of person (Y/n) was, then they wouldn't be saying such things about her. As he read the headlines on the week old paper, he couldn't help but feel his blood boil.

"Killer Clowns Girlfriend Named"

"We can reveal that the name of the female that has been seen leaving from Arkham after visiting the notorious Joker, otherwise known as Arthur Fleck, is a woman called (Y/f/n) (Y/l/n); Miss (Y/l/n) is a set designed and artist that was living in LA, but our sources tell us that the woman once used to live in Gotham and attend the same high school as Fleck, and was in fact his high school sweetheart. From information that we have received, The Gotham Times can reveal that Miss (Y/l/n) and Fleck are more than simple old friends, with loving kisses and embraces being given at the beginning and end of every visitation period. We did attempt to get a statement from both Miss (Y/l/n) and Arkham Hospital, but both declined to touch on the subject, although Arkham has stated that Fleck does have rights to visits."

"Hey Freak!" A voice called out from the other side of the barred little trap in the door to the cold, white room, the sarcastic tone bringing Arthur back from his thoughts.

"Your girl coming to see ya again soon? I must admit that I wouldn't mind a piece of that ass myself, a woman like that is wasting herself on someone like you; god knows you wouldn't know how to satisfy a woman even if some how you could get at her." One of the guards scoffed at Arthur, as another guard could be heard laughing outside.

Calmly Arthur took a cigarette from the packet, lighting it slowly before getting off his bed and heading for the door, a large plume of smoke filling the little trap as Arthur breathed out.

"If you even think about looking at my girl again, Harris, I promise you that she will be the last thing you ever see." Arthur said, his voice cold, calm, and menacing, a subtle smile on his face as he heard the guard growl at his comment.

"Are you threatening me, freak?" The guard asked, banging his baton against the door.

Slowly, Arthur made his way back to his bed, dropping himself down onto the thin mattress as he took another deep gulp of smoke.

"No, Harris. That wasn't a threat, it was a promise." Arthur chuckled, knowing full well that the guard on the other side of the ingress would now be irate, a fact that just made him laugh all the more.

"Just wait, freak; we'll see who has the last laugh." The guard huffed, slamming the trapdoor shut, and leaving Arthur once again in his quiet world.

As Arthur looked at the paper on the floor, the picture of (Y/n) looking back at him, he knew that his plan would have to be put into place for the next time she came for her visit in three days; his scheme had taken a lot of favours being called in, and he knew that if the authorities found out about what he had planned, he would probably never get to see (Y/n) again, but it was the only chance he may have to be with her before he got too old, and one chance of getting to love (Y/n) was worth whatever they could do to him.
