The Lord said also to me in the days of Josiah the king: "Have you seen what backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there played the harlot.
Jeremiah 3:6
Josiah became king when he was eight years old. He destroyed a lot of the high places of Pagan worship in his late teens. Josiah was a good God-fearing king.
I think God is telling everyone that it is ok; He is showing His compassion to unfaithful sinners. We all sin and need God's love through Jesus. Tell God you love Him.
This is a faithful saying:
For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.
