But, O LORD of hosts,
You who judge righteously,
Testing the mind and the heart,
Let me see Your vengeance on them,
For to You I have revealed my cause.

God protects the ones He loves. Doesn't He love everyone? Yes, but does everyone make an effort to walk in His ways? It is so hard to talk to people who don't understand His love. God is in control, just love Him and let Him be in control.
I think some people equate being gentle and loving with being a wimp. God is far from that. It is hard to explain, He does love us all. Tell Him that you love Him, also.
This is a faithful saying:
For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.
