I have been secretly searching for this for quite a while. I knew God would straighten this out in His time. Notice how David says Your will, not my will or free will, but Teach me to do Your will.
I have had some discussions about free will; now I have a reference verse or a couple of them :-) God's Spirit is good, also amazing and much, much more. He knows what I need and when I need it - He picks these.
There is no choice if you follow God, there is only His way, and that is always the right way. My mind is buzzing because I just figured out that I was indoctrinated in believing God lets us make our own choices. I can't remember when but in my youth, I do remember later in life thinking, what would Jesus do?
God is in total control. He knows all the decisions we will make throughout our whole lives and why. I think the free-will question comes from if you want to love Jesus and God. Once you have decided, you will then seek God and His will only. Tell Him that you love Him!
"For I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me."
John 6:38
This is a faithful saying:
For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.
