     One who turns away his ear from
          hearing the law,
     Even his prayer is an abomination.
                         Proverbs 28:9

     I think this is referring to people that ignore the law; they know it, but choose to ignore it.  Does it refer to sacrifices?  This is where it gets tricky.  Jesus is the sacrificial lamb - believe in Jesus and you don't need to sacrifice.
     Many people are truly deceitful; God knows their hearts - but can man know their own hearts?  I think this verse relates to the fact that you can't fool God Almighty.  Man can be fooled easily - we are lied to on a daily basis.
       I have a simple solution - tell God that you love Him :-)

This is a faithful saying:

For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.
2 Timothy 2:11-13
