you were staring at the computer blankly. today was just one of those days where you weren't in the mood to sell some paper. when you looked over, you saw calum, quietly talking into the phone, probably talking to client. eventually, he looked over your way, the two of you just looking at each other. you stuck out your tongue, calum mimicking you while still talking to the customer. the two of you kept making faces at each other till of course dwight had to ruin it. "quit wasting precious work time, y/n. i'll write you up for disturbance." he spat, shooting you a look. "does it look like im bugging anyone?" you asked, folding your arms across your chest, raising an eyebrow. calum had finished his call, hanging it up and watching the two of you now. dwight opened his mouth but nothing came out, only a groan before he went back to work. "nice one." calum chuckled, holding his hand up for a high five. you smiled, letting your hand hit his before getting up with your wallet. "i'm getting a snack, wanna come?" you asked. "sure." the tan boy agreed, the two of you getting up and heading to the break room, putting in coins for some cookies. calum leaned against the machine, looking out the window before pecking your lips. you couldn't help but giggle, pulling one and shaking your head. "cal, stop." you whispered, typing in the number for the snack you wanted. its only been a few weeks since you and calum started dating, trying to keep it on the low for as long as you can. mostly because you were trying to avoid all the inappropriate questions or jokes michael would make about you. "i looked, we're fine." he said quietly, moving to sit at one of the tables, you joining him after you grabbed your bag of cookies, sharing them with calum. "i might have told pam." he confessed, you looking up at your boyfriend with an raised brow. "what? why?" you asked. "i dunno, just kinda slipped. dont worry, she said won't say anything." calum shrugged, placing his hand on yours. you felt a little uneasy and little upset calum had told pam. before you, calum dated pam for a while but broke up because they just weren't as compatible as they thought they would be. you thought pam was pretty nice, but deep down she made you feel a little insecure. "you okay, y/n?" calum asked, causing you to look up at him as your cheeks heat up. "um, yeah. i'm good." you plastered a smile on your face, pushing a piece of hair behind your ear. "i just really wanna go home, it's so boring today." you continued, calum nodding along while popping a cookie in his mouth. "yeah, me too. just four more hours to go." he smiled, sitting up and patting your shoulder. calum headed back to his desk, going back to work leaving you alone to finish your snack. eventually, you went back to work too, trying to make at least one sale today. meanwhile, in between doing work, calum would chat to pam at the reception desk, either doing copies or just bugging her. thank god you weren't able to see since your back faced it, but it still didn't help you feel any better about yourself. "whats with the face, y/l/n?" dwight asked. "nothing. im not in the mood today, dwight." you sighed. "are you pms-ing?" he contined, causing you to send him a look. "i said in not in the mood." you snapped, voice raising, causing some of your other co-workers to turn and look, including calum. "thats it. michael!" dwight yelled, running to his office, leaving you alone. while your face was barred in your hands, you felt someone touch you. "you wanna go outside?" you heard calum whisper in your ear. you simply shook your head, pulling your head up again, going back to work, trying to keep yourself together for the last few hours. when the clock struck five, you were the first to dart out, ditching calum as you headed straight to your car. however, he wasn't gonna let your leave that easy. with his bag and jacket in hand, he ran out for you in the parking lot, grabbing your arm before you could unlock the car. "hey, what's going on? you've been acting weird all day." calum frowned, searching your eyes for something.. anything. "i dont know. i just-lately i've been doubting myself. you and pam get along so well and sometimes i just get jealous-" "you're jealous of pam?" he asked, looking surprised. slowly, you nodded, feeling tears build up in your eyes. calum shook his head, pulling you in for a hug, your cheek pressing against his button up as your eyes fluttered closed. "if i still liked pam, i'd still be with her. but i'm with you and you're like fifty times better than her. she's just my friend." he said, swinging you back and forth gently. when you looked up at calum, a tear escaped your eye. "i'm sorry." you said softly. "it's okay, i'd probably feel the same with one of your exes too. but don't worry about it, okay? i like you, and only you. and also maybe dwight." he joked, making you giggle a little. "thats gross." you smiled. calum cupped your face, leaning down and pressing his plump lips against yours. this time you didn't fight back, instead, you let yourself melt under his touch, kissing him back before pulling. "lets go get chinese food." you said, taking calums hand in yours. "ill race you there." he winked, jogging to his car. you quickly got in yours, driving off as the sun set on scranton.
