Ariana had just learnt that Elena and Stefan were happily back together. She sat on her bed, deep in thought.

She desperately wanted to patch things up with Nathan. She loved him!

After driving to the Salvatore house, Stefan let her in. They exchanged greetings before Ariana headed upstairs to Nathan's room.

"Nathan? Nathan?" There was a pause. "You're standing right behind me, aren't you?"

"Yep. What are you doing here, Ana? I thought--"

Ariana cut Nathan off, turning towards him.

"I miss you! So much. I know that we had to break up because of Madeline wanting you back, but I realise now that I can't just sit back and let her win. I love you, Nathan."

The only thing that Ariana could hope was that Nathan wouldn't tell her he no longer loved her.

And, thankfully, he didn't.

"I love you, too, Ana. I never stopped, and I never will stop."

A dazzling grin appeared on Ariana's face as she leant forward and pressed her lips to Nathan's. After a few moments, they broke away.

"Is something on your mind?" Ariana asked her once-again boyfriend.

"I can't just pretend like everything is okay..." Nathan sighed. Ariana frowned.

"Madeline and Katherine are locked away in the tomb."

"I know but we still have this pressing little issue of you and/or Elena being Klaus' human sacrifice." Nathan pointed out.

"Yes, but Elena and I had a little chat this morning. Elijah promised Elena to keep both of us and everyone else safe as long as we play by his rules." Ariana stated.

"Right. As long as you play by his rules." Nathan said.

"In my defence, I didn't ask Elena to negotiate with Elijah. I only found out that she included me in their negotiation this morning." Ariana defended. "Please don't go after Isobel."

"Madeline and Katherine said Isobel could have some answers and I just have a couple questions, that's all." Nathan shrugged.

"Nathan, Elena made a deal with Elijah and included me in it. Against my will or not, I'm a part of the deal." Ariana sighed.

"Right, you and Elena made a deal with him. I didn't make one. You two should keep your deal." Nathan replied.

"Wait, I just realised something. Surely, once Elijah got a witch to release the spell on the tomb to let Stefan out, Madeline and Katherine would've immediately rushed out of there." Ariana pointed out.

"I wondered the exact same thing. So, I asked Stefan about it this morning. He told me that Elijah compelled the girls to stay in the tomb until he says so." Nathan told his girlfriend.

"What?! How can Elijah compel other vampires?" Ariana questioned, surprised.

"He's an original. I don't really know what that means. I don't think anybody really knows what that means. Well, except maybe Isobel." Nathan explained. "I'll be sure to ask her."

Rose was in the library, she seemed sick. Damon entered, carrying a blood bag.

"I was born in 1450... that makes me 560 years old..." Rose whispered. "So, I can die. I've lived long enough."
