Rebekah and Damon were walking towards the front door of the Salvatore house. Damon was shirtless.

"So, let's not make a big deal out of this." Rebekah muttered. "Ari is my friend, and you and her... well, I don't even know what is going on with you two. I just don't want to hurt her."

"My thoughts exactly." Damon agreed.

He opened the door, wanting to get Rebekah out before anyone could see them together and realise what they'd done. But it was too late for that. Because standing on the other side of the door, was Ariana herself.

And to say she was shocked was an understatement.

"Bekah...?"

"Ari..." Rebekah whispered, not really knowing what to say. "I-I... I'm just gonna... go. I'm sorry..." After shooting Ariana an apologetic look, Rebekah rushed out of there.

Damon and Ariana were inside, and Damon was buttoning up a shirt.

"Um..." Ariana awkwardly cleared her throat. "S-sorry about... that. I didn't mean to... interrupt."

"Nah, she was just leaving." Damon replied, refusing to make eye contact.

"Damon, I... I'm sorry about last night. I was stressed, and panicked, and... and tired! I was overwhelmed, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have taken it out on you like that... you did nothing wrong..." Ariana stated. Damon poured himself a drink and downed it in one, glancing over at Ariana.

"All is forgiven... was there anything else you needed, or...?"

"Uh, yes, actually." Ariana remembered. "I can't believe I almost forgot! I just came by to let you know that Elena called me last once when I got home. Her humanity isn't off anymore, she and Nathan both think it's easier to just pretend to not care about anything. But because Elena actually does care, she was kind enough to let me in on Esther's plan. You see, Esther needed both the blood of a doppelgänger and a vampire. It could've been two different people, but the same person made more sense. And since Katherine and Madeline were no where around, Elena had helped with Esther's plan. Esther used Elena's blood to link all of the Mikaelson siblings together. She is planning on killing her entire family. She's linked them all together with a spell. Whatever happens to one, happens to all of them."

"Well, that's great! Klaus will finally be dead. We win." Damon smirked. "Why do you look like someone just shot a panda bear?"

"Uh, because none of them deserve it! Not Nik, not Bekah, not Lijah, and not even Kol and Finn. They're not bad people, Damon, and I don't want them to get hurt."

"I'm supposed to care about any of them?" Damon scoffed.

"They are my friends, Damon! They are trustworthy, honest, and so loyal. And if any harm comes to any of them because of you or another member of this 'group' of ours, then I'm siding with the Mikaelsons. I won't let them die. No one harms any of them until the link between them is broken." Ariana explained. Then, she turned and walked out.

Damon downed another glass, trying to push away his new internal conflict.

Klaus and Kol had been at Mystic Grill for a while now, bonding while drinking bottle after bottle. But they were seemingly 'oblivious' to Alaric, who had been observing them since the Mikaelson brothers had stepped into the Grill.

So, Alaric was on the phone with Damon near the pool table, while Klaus and Kol were still drinking at the bar.

"Yeah, no, they're still here. Yeah, they've drank their way through half the Grill's liquor supply."
