No one's POV

Ariana, Alaric, and Stefan were walking through the tunnel in the cellar.

"So, the Lockwoods really have no idea that these tunnels are underneath their property?" Ariana spoke.

"Careful where you shine that thing. Bats hate the light." Stefan joked. But then, Ariana heard something behind her, whispering to her.

"Ana..." Startled, Ariana span around, only to see Damon stood right behind her. "Boo!" Ariana involuntarily jumped, making Damon smirk. "Scaredy-cat!"

"Yeah, very funny." Ariana smiled, nudging Damon playfully. He smiled back at her. "So, you two really can't get in?"

"No." Stefan shook his head.

"Seems even the ancient Lockwoods were anti-vampire." Damon added. They walked further into the tunnels, to the cave with drawings on the walls. "Well, this is as far as we get to go."

Ariana entered the chamber and shined her flashlight on the walls with the drawings.

"What is all this?"

"Well, as far as I can tell, it's a story. In simple, archaeological terms, it's a really, really old story." Alaric pointed at the wall. "That right there, is the moon cycle." He pointed at another drawing. "A man, a wolf."

"A werewolf." Ariana realised. "I don't understand. I thought the Lockwoods came here with the Original Founders in the 1860s."

"Well, maybe the Lockwoods did, but according to this wall, these werewolves have been here a lot longer than that." Alaric stated.

"It gets better. Show her, Ric." Damon said.

"Names. They're not native. They're written in Runic, a Viking script." Alaric informed. "This name here, when translated, reads Niklaus." He pointed at more names. "And Elijah... and Rebekah."

"These are the names of the Original Family?" Ariana questioned in surprise.

"Carved into a cave that's been here since way before the founding of Mystic Falls. Or even the entire New World, for that matter." Alaric muttered.

"Okay, this is definitely one of Klaus's fakes." Stefan sighed, leaning against the wall.

"That could be true, except the last name up here made us think otherwise." Alaric pointed at the last name. "Mikael."

"Mikael, as in, the vampire hunter who knows how to kill Klaus?" Ariana gasped, surprised.

"Yep." Damon nodded from outside of the cave. "I now like to call him 'Papa Original'."

Alaric took photos of the carvings.

---

Alaric and Stefan were looking at the photos on his desk, while Damon was helping Ariana with her combat training.

"These images tell a story....to learn the story, you have to decipher these images." Alaric murmured to Stefan. Damon disarmed Elena, who was close to staking him in the shoulder.

"You're definitely improving."

"And next time, I'll beat you." Ariana smirked.

"Keep dreaming." Damon scoffed, also smirking, before he changed the subject. "Mason Lockwood set up the cave and led us to a weapon that can kill Klaus."

"Yeah, but doesn't Mikael have a weapon?" Ariana wondered, causing Damon to nod.

"Yes. Which probably means the wall will lead us to Mikael, who we have already found...and lost." Damon grabbed Ariana's wrist and span her around so her back was to his chest, then aimed the stake at her heart. "Bang! You're dead!" He whispered into her ear, then pretended to bite into Ariana's neck. She pushed him away playfully, laughing quietly, and walked over to Alaric and Stefan at the desk.
