Three years later

Skylar remained in her seat in the Salvatore House. The couch she barely ever left, unless it was to shower or to grab a blood bag. She had no motivation to get up, and everyday was the same routine: Check if Bonnie was alright, get a visit from Enzo where they would surprisingly just sit and talk, and then bombard Alex's phone with wonders of Nora's and Mary-Louise's whereabouts.

They still hadn't been found, so Alex said, which led to Skylar worrying every single day, more and more. She'd gone from texting Alex ten messages a day, to leaving her hundred voicemails an hour. With no motivation to do or see anyone else, Nora and Mary-Louise was her top result.

Enzo had been off about the Armory for the past few years, and had gone to lengths to make sure that Skylar stayed away from them, going as far as to give her pills to disable her magic. Skylar didn't object, nor did she bother asking why. She didn't need her magic from her couch, anyway. What was she doing to do with it anymore? And Enzo seemed wary to tell Skylar the real reason why he was giving her pills so she couldn't use her magic.

After popping her daily pill into her mouth, Skylar pulled her phone out, dialled a number, and held the device up to her ear.

"You're ignoring me, Alex. Why? It seems that you are unable to follow through with a simple request. I want Nora and Mary-Louise by the end of the week. Think you can manage?"

Hanging up the phone, ending her voicemail, Skylar let out a groan. She waved her hand to summon a blood bag, but when nothing happened, she rolled her eyes.

"Right. I forgot."

Skylar got up to get a blood bag in the big, quiet house, when Enzo waltzed right in like he owned the place. The two had grown closer over the last three years and had reached the stage of best friendship.

"Knock, knock."

"In here!" Skylar called from the kitchen. Enzo entered and smiled at her.

"There's my little witch."

"I'm not your anything, E." Skylar smiled, though it didn't reach her eyes. Enzo frowned in concern and noticed the phone on the counter.

"Still no answer?"

"Alex is definitely avoiding me. She knows where Nora and Mare are. She's hiding them from me!" Skylar exclaimed, hungrily drinking most of the contents of her blood bag. "I just... don't know why."

"I'm sure it's nothing, love. I'm sure they're safe." Enzo reassured, pulling Skylar into a hug. Skylar found herself relaxing into his embrace, but she pulled away when her phone rang. Picking it up, she almost jumped for joy when she saw Alex's contact name appear across the screen. Without another word to Enzo, she answered it.

"Alex! Thank God. It's been three years and not a word from you. It's like you'd fell off the earth."

"Shame. I thought Enzo would have filled you in on what I've been up to."

"No. Why? Should he have?"

"Considering we've spent the last three years searching for you and he's had to give you those pills to stop us from being able to do locater spells. Yes, he should have."

"..."

"Ahh, now you know what I'm talking about. The pills to disable your magic? They do more than that."

"Why have you been searching for me?"

"That can wait for another time. We have all the time in the world to find you. But for now? We have something of yours. Two somethings, actually."
