No one's POV

Avery, Ariana, and Hayley arrived at the apartment to visit Marcel, who they found pouring himself a drink at his bar.

"So, those werewolf kids you helped get out of the Quarter made it to the safe house up north." Hayley smiled at Marcel gratefully, and he seemed pleased by this news.

"Great! My good deed for the decade."

"Maybe the vampires and us free wolves can work together after all." Avery chuckled. Marcel smiled.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend!"

"Anyway, thanks... for helping." Avery said. Marcel shook his head.

"Don't thank me. Thank Elijah."

Avery frowned.

"We would have, but I can't get a hold of him. We went to the compound, thinking he'd be there..."

"Really? I thought you always have tabs on him?" Marcel questioned.

"We haven't really been on the best terms lately." Avery muttered awkwardly.

"He wouldn't just disappear, though." Ariana added. Marcel processed that information for a moment.

"Uh, last I knew, he was gonna keep the wolves distracted. Your boy Oliver was gonna help."

"I couldn't track down Oliver, either." Avery informed, worried. Hayley, Ariana, and Marcel all frowned in concern. "If they're both missing..." Avery realized that Elijah must've been in trouble, and turned to leave.

"Where are you going?" Hayley wondered. Avery glanced back at her twin.

"To find them."

"Not on your own, you're not." Marcel set down his drink. He, Ariana, and Hayley all rushed after Avery as she walked out of the apartment.

---

It had been a while, but nothing much had happened. No one had found out where Elijah was, Klaus suffered a near-death experience, and Ariana was left worrying immensely for them both.

As she paced one of the many spare rooms in the compound, which she had turned into her room after deciding that she'd make it her permanent home instead of finding her own lonely home, her phone started to ring from her dresser where it was charging.

Ariana walked over and unplugged her phone, staring down at the name that had appeared on the screen.

Stef💕xx

Sighing, Ariana answered the call.

"Couldn't live without me for a few weeks?"

"Well, I have missed you like crazy. It's not just been a few weeks, Ana! It's been four months without you! But that's not why I'm calling. I need you to come back."

"Why? I don't live there anymore. None of us do! We can't enter without dying."

"I know that. I mean to Whitmore. Come back, please."

"Stef, I came out here for a fresh start! I live here now, in New Orleans, and I have done for four months now. I can't just go running back just because you miss me. That's not a good enough reason, I'm sorry..."

"Damon's alive. How's that for a good enough reason?"

"...what?"

"Damon's alive."

"How?"

"You tell me. He showed up, literally out of nowhere, but he's here. He's... he's been asking for you alot."

"......"

"Ana, if you don't come back, Damon has sworn that he will literally go all the way to New Orleans to see you."

"So, you just want me to leave this place? I've found a home here! I don't feel so alone... I'm finally happy again."

"Fine. You can tell Damon that for yourself."

"...I'll be there tomorrow."

"Thank you. Can't wait to see you."

"Yeah, yeah. Tell Damon I'm on my way, please."

Hanging up, Ariana immediately began packing, also pulling out her laptop to look at available planes to Virginia this afternoon.

---

"Knock knock." Ariana appeared in Klaus' doorway. "How are you doing?"

"Fine." Klaus turned to face her. He noticed the suitcases behind her. "Leaving so soon?"

"I have to." Ariana frowned. "I... I just found out that Damon's alive. I figured I owed him a visit. A 'glad you're not dead' trip."

"Will you be back?" Klaus asked with hope shimmering in his blue eyes. It only made Ariana's heart ache more.

"I don't think so, Nik..." She stepped further into the room. "It's a pity. I was starting to get attached to this place."

"This place was starting to get attached to you." Klaus responded. "I know Avery and Hayley really liked you. As did Marcel and Josh. Over the past four months, they've all truly grown to care for you a lot."

"I liked them, too. So much." Ariana smiled. "I hope I can stay in touch with them. And with you."

"Me, too..." Klaus pulled Ariana into a hug. "I'll miss you, love."

"I'll miss you, too, Nik." Ariana eventually pulled away from the hug. "When you do meet your little girls, could you please tell them that they are very lucky to grow up in a world with parents as amazing as you and Avery? Tell them that I really wish to meet them, and hope that they grow up to be strong and incredible."

"I will." Klaus nodded.

"And find Elijah, okay? Promise me." Ariana said. "Make sure he's okay."

"I promise I'll find him. Have you said goodbye to anyone else yet?" Klaus wondered.

"I was actually about to head to Avery's room. I hear Hayley's in there, too. And then I'm going to go down to Marcel's apartment to say bye to him and Josh." Ariana stated.

"Very well..." Klaus sighed. "See you sometime, then?"

"Sooner rather than later." Ariana promised. "I'll call you, and I'll visit the girls to watch them grow up as often as I can. I want to see how their lives get mapped out."

"You would've been a wonderful mother." Klaus commented. Ariana's smile widened. "Bye."

"Bye, Nik..." With one last hug, Ariana turned and left, grabbing her suitcases and heading down to Avery's room to say her next load of goodbyes...

She was ready to go home... home home...
