Chapter 5: Live Through This
Word Count: 2309

A/N: Sorry again for the 2 day wait!! My GCSEs start on Monday so I've lost track of time with these stories. So, I am now revising during the day and writing during the night. (It's 10:44pm and I'm writing this from bed right now). I'll try and post more frequently, but my exams will start getting in the way. Luckily, my exams finish on June 23rd, so from then on, things will go back to normal.
Until then, please don't get too impatient if my uploads aren't daily, but if I haven't posted anything in more than 3 days, feel free to shout insults at me either via the comments or just message me on here and demand that I upload the next chapter 😅
Thanks for hopefully understanding!

Enzo had just brought Oscar a blood bag, and he drank it hungrily. Enzo smirked in amusement.

"Enjoy it, mate. It's the last of it."

Just then, Lily came into the room.

"Good morning, Oscar." She turned to Enzo and smiled, and he smiled back awkwardly. "It was kind of you to sit with him all night."

"Oh, I've had a few bad nights myself over the years." Enzo muttered. The maid, Lucy, walked in with a large vase of flowers, and Lily pointed to the nearby table.

"Right here, please, Lucy. Thank you."

"Oh, what's the occasion?" Enzo wondered, glancing at the gorgeous vase of flowers. Lily turned to him.

"My mother always used to keep fresh flowers when expecting guests. I suppose I picked it up from her."

Enzo's polite smile fell.

"Ah, Julian, I presume."

"Yes. Yes, he'll arrive home today, if all goes as planned." Lily replied awkwardly. "This is a good thing, Lorenzo. I hope you can be happy for me. There's no reason the two of you shouldn't get along."

Enzo turned his back to Lily to check on Oscar, who had finished his blood bag.

"Yeah. Thick as thieves, I reckon."

And then, Skylar then entered the room, pouting childishly, followed closely by Nora.

"Grandmother, can you please convince Beau to let me drive?" Skylar sighed.

"Please, dear, I've told you a thousand times. Call me Lily." Lily chuckled. "Grandmother makes me sound old."

"But you're the only grandmother I have. I want to take advantage of it." Skylar shrugged. "And 'Lily' just sounds boring. No offence."

"None taken... I think."

But they all stopped when they saw Oscar staring at them blankly.

"He's still sitting there?" Nora piped up. Lily nodded worriedly, and Nora rushed over to sit next to Oscar on the couch. "Oscar? Darling, it's Nora. Do you... do you remember me?"

But Oscar didn't reply, causing Skylar to frown, concerned.

"I don't like this. Oscar's meant to be laughing and making jokes." She leant over to look Oscar in the eyes. "Guess what, Oscar? Julian's coming back. Life's about to get fun again."

"So fun!" Nora agreed optimistically as if she was speaking to a child. When Oscar didn't respond to that and continued to sit blankly on the couch, Nora became even more concerned and turned to Lily. "Right. Well, he's clearly unwell. We can't just leave him here."

Lily seemed to agree, though she looked guilty as she looked down at Enzo, who did not look at all happy.

"Lorenzo, you wouldn't mind keeping an eye on him, would you? We won't be long."
