Delilah's POV

The bell's went off - Ambulance 61, Squad 3, Truck 81 House Fire - 2276 Garfield Street. My first call on Truck 81. I went to sit in the back and Stella called me and said "Averton your driving." I nodded and headed towards the drivers seat. When we got to the scene the flames weren't too bad but were quickly escalating. "Quick in and out, We don't have much time." Casey yelled. "Squad take the upper floor, Truck the ground floor." Severide says. I mask up and follow Stella inside. The smoke is thick. "I think the origin point is down here." I yell to Stella and she agrees. We walk through the house the rest of Truck is outside taking victims out only me and Stella are left inside we were about to walk out when I hear something. It sounds like a cry of a baby. I walk towards the sound and on the floor behind a plant close to were we found the mother unconscious theres a tiny baby girl wrapped in a pink blanket she can't be anymore than 6 months old. "Stella, I found a baby." I yell. She turns and faces me "Lets get out of here." she says. I walk outside and pass the baby off to Violet who begins to treat her. Stella comes up to me "Good save," she says "If it wasn't for you that baby would of been left in that house, good work." The others come up to be and gives me a pat on the back. I let out a sigh of relief, I was so glad that baby was ok. Truck packs up and heads back to the house.

Back at the house

Chief comes up to me. "Kidd told me about your save, Good work, I'm glad we kept you around." He says. I walk out onto the apron to grab some fresh air, so many things are going through my mind from the last call. I walk towards the outside and I see something that makes me smile, Shay's memorial on the side of Ambulance 61's door. It's beautiful I think to myself and most likely Kelly's work. I laugh to cover the fact i'm almost in tears, I miss Shay so much, she was one of the greatest people I've ever met.I walk towards the locker room to grab my chocolate out of my secret stash since chocolate is my happy place, I snap off some pieces before shutting my locker. I turn the corner and see Kelly and Stella making out in the laundry room. I smile at them slightly then turn away and quietly laugh, I still can't believe those two and how they've changed since I first met them both. We had a few calls to end the shift none of them as severe as the first call but still good. I walk to the locker room and grab my things from my locker. Stella smiles at my locker. I know she's looking at the photo of Brinley. Hermann begins looking at Brinley too. "Is that another photo of you as a kid." He asks. "No actually, It's my daughter Brinley." I reply. "I didn't know you had a daughter." He says. "There's a lot you don't know about me." I say with a small smile across my face. He looks across at the photo of Brinley, Caleb and I. "Is that your husband." He asks. "He was." I say. Hermann looks at me slightly confused, i'm holding back tears at this point and put a smile on my face to try and cover up the sadness that hit my body in that moment. I close my locker and gather my things. "See you next shift." I say. "See you." Herrmann replies

AN: I hope you liked this chapter personally one of my favourites so far. It begins to slowly reveal more about Averton and her relationships with other characters. :)
