Next shift

Christopher's POV

I've wanted to talk to Averton since last shift, I felt like I upset her in some way and want to check on her. I walk into the locker room and find her putting her bag into the locker. "Hey kid, I'm sorry for bringing up that topic with you last shift, I can tell it's a difficult topic for you." I said. She cuts me off "Herrmann honestly it's fine, if I didn't want anyone to know I wouldn't have these photos in my locker, it's just hard to talk about that's all." Averton replied. "Well, if you ever want to talk to anyone about it just know I'm here." I say then I smile and walk away.

Delilah's POV

That was nice of Hermann to say that. It kind of made me realise how closed off I can be sometimes and how I bottle up things. I walk towards the common room were everyone else is. We were all about to eat when a call comes in. (Ambulance 61, Truck 81, Squad 3, Engine 51, Battalion 25) 3356 West Wabash Drive, Industrial Fire. We all run to the rigs.

Kelly's POV

We arrived on scene first. It doesn't look good. A woman comes rushing out. "At least 25.. people in... the warehouse." she says in between coughs. "Confirmed 25 victims inside." I say over the radio. Kidd jumps out of Truck. "Squad we'll take the back, Cruz go and look for any other exits, Truck take the front right and Engine front left. "Got it Captain." Kidd says. "Copy that captain." Hermann says.

Lilah's POV

I follow Kidd inside keeping near her. The first room I walk into I see something. "Guy's, I think this is a stash house." I call out. Across this long table are thousands of pills all packeted and sorted into piles. Kidd and Mouch walk in and confirm my suspicions. "Definitely a stash house." says Mouch. We search through the rest of the building gradually pulling out victims. Kelly and I go to clear the final room as the others are bringing out victims. As we open the door, we see a bathroom. We walk in and as I turn the corner, we see a bathtub which is completely Red and there's a hand sticking out. "Ummm Severide there's a body." I say trying not to gag or take in too much of the stench. Severide turns and sees it but not before he smells it. He radios through. "Chief, Averton and I have just found a body, it looks like it was dead before the fire, I'm starting to think this is Arson, can you get CPD here." Severide says. I look at him, I think he's right. We walk out of the fire and are greeted by a unit called intelligence. I don't know any of them, but they all know Severide and Severide knows all of them. "Hank Voight." One of them most likely the boss says to me. "Delilah Averton." I reply. "This is my team, Hailey Upton, Kevin Atwater, Kim Burgess, Adam Ruzek and Jay Halstead." he says pointing at each of them as he says their names. They all nod and smile at me giving me a handshake. They go off and talk to Casey asking him if we can stay at the scene to show them where we found the body and our thoughts on the situation. We walk into the warehouse, and I point out the room I found the table full of pills and two of the detectives, Atwater and Burgess from my memory walk towards that room. The others followed us as we showed them the way to the room. "Did either of you touch or come in contact with the body." Voight asks. Severide and I both shake our heads. They walk in an confirm Severide's theory, the body was dead before the fire, there was three bullet wounds present on the body. Voight then asks us what first impressions of the scene were. Severide signals for me to go first. "Well when I saw the large amount of pills I immediately thought gang stash house, then when we found the body I thought gang killing like either someone found out something they weren't supposed to know within the gang or some sort of gang war or retaliation hit and the fire was a cover up of the crime." "I agree with Averton." Severide says. "It all makes sense and we can get OFI on this to prove it was arson then it's basically in cement that's what happened here." I nod. "Ok for now you guys can go back to shift I'll call you if we have any updates or need anything but if you could contact OFI that would be great." Voight says. "I'll have Halstead and Ruzek take you guys back to your firehouse." Voight says pointing at two of his detectives I smile and we follow them out towards their vehicles
