"Darren!"

I perked my head up at the sudden loud voice, slowly arising from my bed to pad across the concrete ground, looking up at two tall humans with a small human. Will these people be my masters? Subconsciously, my tail began to wag and I jumped up, stretching my body against the cage door that separated me from my new owners.

My feets tapped against the floor as I plopped back down, staring at the small human who slowly walked up to my cage. They had cool spiky fur! Tilting my head, my tongue fell out of my mouth as I panted in excitement, waiting for a pat on my head. But, it didn't come. The human narrowed their eyes and made a disgusted face, making me whine and lay down on the ground again.

Ears flattened, I watched the small human walk onto the next cage. Will I ever be taken to a home?

I went to go back to my bed but I caught sight of another small human! Jumping up, I lowered the front of my body, butt in the air with my tail wagging like crazy. Will they chose me? They looked happy! They're reaching their hand through! I moved my head closer, but they quickly retracted their hand.

Pressing my snout through the gaps, the small human let out a giggle, softly tapping my wet nose. With their other hand, they ruffled my fur and I barked happily - please choose me!!

Two other humans walked up to the smaller one, gazing down at me happily. "Is this the one you want?" One of the humans questioned, kneeling beside the one who patted me. They nodded, smiling at me timidly. I bounced around, tilting my head and watching them closely.

Where they going to choose me? I want them to choose me! I want a family! I haven't had one before! I want to know what it's like!

Another small human stood next to the first small human, they had two pieces of glass sitting in front of their eyes! Like one of the taller humans! Venturing close to them, they stared at me curiously but also nervously. Nudging my head against the cage, they slowly touched my fur, retreating back a bit afterwards.

"Is he okay, Logan?" The one who peered through glass asked the small human who nodded, "he will be satisfactory - although, it is Virgil's dog, not mine" they replied back briefly, standing close to the second taller human who hadn't spoke yet. I tilted my head back to look at them, my tail wagging faster when they lifted their hand up to wave.

"Roman?" The one who waved nodded, turning their head towards other humans.

"Can we have him?" The same taller human spoke, one of the humans who took care of me walked over and agreed, taking away the two taller humans and leaving the smaller ones.

Turning my attention back to them, the one with fur hanging over their eyes reached up and unlocked the cage. "Wait, Virgil, I do not think that it allowed-" the other small human spoke up, but I used my noggin to push open the cage, sitting obediently before the small humans. The one who unlocked the cage shot a small smirk at the other human, cautiously walking up to me and ruffing my fur.

I barked happily, circling around their body, creating quiet laughter from them. Enjoying the sound, I carried on my movements, only stopping when the human fell over. "Virgil?" The small human with glass on his face rushed over, but they were laying on the floor, giggling while staring at me.

"I'm fine" they reassured quickly, slowly sitting up. I licked their face, whining apologetically. They sent me a smile, carding their fingers through my fur.

"Here you go!"

I felt something wrap around my neck, making a clicking around when it was attached. The taller human who didn't have glass on their face held the rope that was attached to me. This means they're taking me home!

I bounced in excitement, licking each of the humans faces, creating laughter from all of them.

I have owners..

I'm going home!
