"Keep running" Patton urged to Remy who had fallen down yet again, panting heavily, legs burning. "I-I can't" they replied, tears gathering in their golden brown eyes. Behind them, through the thick shrubbery they climbed through, they could hear the voices of them echoing across the dark brown walls, all giving out orders to track the two rogues.

"C'mon, Star" Patton murmured pleadingly. "I'm not leaving you here" Remy looked up at their boyfriend, seeing his face, and the idea that they could be together for the rest of their lives, free, gave them the sudden determination they needed. Helping each other up, they gripped each other's hands tightly and kept running, kept pushing forward, sliding through small spaces between the muddy walls, pushing past overgrowth, jumping across holes that fell down into the dark abyss, nothing could get in their way.

On the walls littered sparkling crystals that seemed to lighten up when Remy and Patton zoomed past them, as if they were also encouraging the two to keep running, freedom is only a few steps away. The sound of them behind them propelled them forward, it was the push they needed, knowing if they were caught, they'd be locked up for eternity, far away from the other, and they couldn't live like that - they would die.

They could feel the last ounce of adrenaline running out, and for a moment, they both felt like they wouldn't make it, they would fall, they would fail, but then they felt the slaps of vines across their faces, and suddenly had to cover their eyes from a blinding light that covered them.

They both tripped and fell, scrapping against a hard and rough ground.

Both of them struggled for oxygen, gripping the other tightly while gulping in long deep breaths, chests heaving, legs numb. It would be impossible to walk without wobbling for awhile. Looking behind them, they stared at the long vines that hung down the entrance way, through the gaps they could see the red eyes of them, but they wouldn't go through, Patton and Remy knew that.

"We did it" Patton whispered, tears welling up in his eyes only to spill down his cheeks moments later. Remy followed suit, burying their head into Patton's chest to sob with joy.

"C'mon" Patton murmured after awhile of the two just laying there on the ground. Remy nodded and held each other up as they stumbled and walked. Passing by a few trees, they came out the other end on the side of a road, a few cars whizzed by as they did. Both breathed out a sigh of relief and crossed to the other side, hand in hand, legs shaking.

They read a sign that motioned them towards an old wooden building, so that's where they went. Inside it looked messy and dusty, old papers strewn all over the place, a few chairs knocked over, and graffiti covered the walls. Slowly, they treaded carefully across the room to a desk, the cleanest part in the room. Directly in the middle of the desk was a yellow button they both pressed down on at the same time.

A perfect hologram of a human appeared behind the desk, they looked a little bewildered at first, but their ocean blue eyes hurriedly found the two humans standing before them. "Ah!" They clapped their hands in realisation, "haven't seen one of you in awhile" they explained, looking over the two humans closely, noticing a few golden marks covering their cheeks.

"You escaped, eh? And together, too" they smiled softly, glancing at their clasped hands. Patton nodded and smiled, his free arm wrapping around Remy who was also smiling, but they didn't look as trusting. "Well, for your troubles, we will gladly accept you into our world. Step back onto those two circles there - Yep, those ones" the hologram human watched them take a few steps back onto the circles.

"Oh, and you can't touch during this" they added on as an afterthought.

Patton's expression flooded with distress at the idea of losing Remy, but the hologram-human quickly explained they would end up at the same place. They could keep holding hands if they wanted, but they'd be chopped off and left behind over the course of the teleportation.

"We'll be fine" Remy spoke quietly to Patton who began to tremble when he didn't have Remy's hand in his own. "Cloud, you trust me, don't you?" Patton slowly nodded, stepping into Remy's circle momentarily to hug them before retuning to his own, closing his eyes tightly.

The hologram-human cooed softly, tapping a few buttons on their desk before a bright light flashed around the humans. In a flash, they were somewhere new, in a building glistening white. Patton blinked blearily, from the corner of his eye he spotted Remy who looked disoriented, too.

"Star!" Patton burst in delight, wrapping them into a hug. Remy tensed but smiled, hugging their little cloud back in response. The hologram human was now standing before them in real life, running a hand through their green hair hastily.

"Welcome to your new world" they gestured to a window for the both of them to stare out of. When they did, they gasped in amazement at the land that stretched out around them. "Make yourselves at home"

Remy turned to Patton and cupped his face, kissing him passionately. Patton giggled, a few tears mixing into it, too.

"Fuck, I love you"

"Language" Patton murmured gently, gazing at them adoringly. "I love you, too"
