Just c'mere, dad - Virgil & Patton

Virgil cracked his tired eyes open when light from the hallway outside his room poured onto his face. For a moment, he thought it was the morning, and his dad was waking him up for school, but then he remembered it was Christmas break, and it was, in fact, one am.

"Hey..Virgie?" Patton murmured into the room, Virgil could see his dad bobbing from one foot to the other, in his left hand he held a teddy Virgil knows he likes to sleep with, as it comforts him. He was nervous, Virgil knew what he was asking for.

"Hmm...?" he hummed groggily, not finding it in him to speak.

Patton chewed his lip. "You awake?" Pretty pointless question, but he was too anxious to say why he was here.

Virgil sighed and shuffled on his bed, pressing against the wall and whipping the blanket back. "Just c'mere, Dad" he murmured. Patton smiled and stepped in, closing the door and hurrying across the dark room to lay down on the bed. Virgil threw the blanket over his dad and dragged him down into a cuddle, wedging his teddy betwixt them.

Patton chuckled quietly, curling his arms around his sons waist and holding him close, kissing his forehead gently. "I love you, Virgie"

"Love you, too, dad...and" he shifted closer to his dads warm body, arms wrapped around him. "Don't be so nervous when asking for cuddles, s'fine, you know I don't mind..." he drifted, almost falling into slumber.

"I know, Kiddo, thank you, you're the best" Patton giggled.

"You better believe it" Virgil muttered, barely hearing his dads laugh, for he had fallen asleep.

Patton hummed in amusement, kissing his forehead one more time.

"Goodnight, Kiddo"
