Okay so I don't want to be a bother but rn, I'm in self isolation because I came into contact with someone with Covid so please, please, please send in the requests. I would be so greatful. Back to the Story! This was an anonymous request, hope the person who requested it enjoys it xx
I sigh as my friend Vanessa rambles on with her explanation as to why I was put on this random blind date with her friend that I'd never met before. "I just think you need to get out more. You haven't dated in four or five years and he's been out of the game for a year now. You two are the only two friends that are single right now! I'd love for you two to meet, nevermind date." I stopped her from continuing on. "But why? Why can't you just let me finish college? I'm nearly finished engineering." I mumble stirring my drink with a wooden lollipop stick. "That's the thing, he sorta does engineering too. You already have something in common!" Her reason was probably out of the blue or just a coincidence. I know for a fact she doesn't have any other engineering friends because her course is wedding planning, which would explain why she is always trying to get people together. "If I go, will you shut up?" she nods with her smile growing my the second. I let out a loud sigh. "Fine. Fine. I'll go on the stupid date. I know it won't work out anyway so I'm just waiting to say I told you so." She waves her hand, shrugging away my opinion. "I know you won't say that. He's just your type this time." I very highly doubt that.
I sit on the stairs to my apartment·awaiting the text or something from this random guy I was set up with. to the coffee shop in Silverstone, the town not the track, although I would love to go there. Vanessa exchanged the numbers for us but we didn't text or call. I guess neither of us wanted this to work out and thank god for that. My phone vibrates and there's a long enough paragraph to read from the mysterious stranger whom I was about to go on a date with.
Hey. I'm Max, the person you're going on the date with. Sorry if this is all a bit weird (you know what Vanessa is like) but I'm not really in a place for a girlfriend so if we just hang out, I'll be fine with that. I'll be outside in three minutes. An Aston Martin btw
An Aston Martin? He's a Daddy's boy for sure. I put my phone into my coat pocket and put my coat on too. I step outside and see a red Aston Martin pull up just outside the door. I walk over to the car a bit nervous and knock on the window. The window rolls down to show the face of "Max? Max Verstappen?" How the hell did Vanessa manage to pull an F1 driver for me? Never the less, he wasn't exactly my favourite driver, if anything he was one of my least favourite. He was far too cocky in my opinion but I've got a "Yes. Y/n I presume?" He says opening up the door from the inside. "You presume correct. Sorry to hear about your race by the way. Didn't go too well huh?" I didn't want to be rude, but I myself wasn't a huge fan of Red Bull. I was more of a McLaren fna if I'm being honest. "You watch formula one?" he asked. I nod. "Yes. With my grandfather and dad." I put my seat belt on and away we go. "Well there have been better days for sure. I would have liked that win though. What team do you prefer?"
"McLaren. No offense." On the outside, it seemed as if Max didn't care but deep down, he sort of wanted her to like his team. "They did well. A P4 and P7." Max desperately tried to keep the conversation going. He hadn't really hung out with anybody so she would have been the first person he'd have a long conversation with in a long time. "Yes and of course your Team-mate did very well too. You are closing the gap to Mercedes on the constructors." I looked out the window, not really knowing where we were or where we were going. I'd never been around here before. "So where are we gonna go?"
"I'm really just following the directions Vanessa sent me. Im going in blind, all i know is it's a café of some sort." he handed me his phone to have a look. "The Oak Room. I've heard that before." I say out loud. She spoke about the Oak Room before but I never really paid attention to what she said about it. He parks and opens the door for me to get out. "Such a gentleman." I say wiggling my eyebrows. "Of course. Now where is it?" We both look around for the Oak Room but it was nowhere to be found at all. "Let's go look at the other streets?" he suggested. I nod and off we go.
